this is that little piece of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that we all have bubbling under the surface. Do NOT let it get any bigger or you will have some awesome shrink bills to pay.
You should recycle the jar of course. You might also be able to recycle the lid. But not in the same bucket.

You can re cycle the jam jar at a bottle bank. However separate the lid. make enquiries about lid recycling. Stop feeding your children sugary ****. look what it did to you. Shame on you and your mother.

No. I rinse the jar and put it out for recycling and put the lid in the bin as all responsible people should! sorry if that breaks up a beautiful partnership.

What an interesting thing to do. I've never heard of it, but it sounds like something the Brits would do, and I say that with a smile.
I do throw salt over my shoulder if I should spill some.

Doing that traps air inside and prevents surface exposer. If you aren't going to recycle, at lest throw your trash away so that it will biodegrate quickly. Please leave the lid off.

No, but I compulsively fully remove ring pull tops so that foxes and such won't get their faces trapped foraging the land-fill

I put it back on, but it's just to keep ants from invading the kitchen trash.
