I know I'm supposed to pray, but I just never get around to it, and I know I need to, and at night, I get scared since I didn't pray that day, and I know it's my salvation...and I promise to pray when daylight arrives. But then the sun comes out, and I just go about my day, and watch the tube a bit as well...and prayer gets skipped again. How can I stop this cycle and start praying? It's not my favorite thing, but it's not aweful either, and the stuff I do instead isn't productive, and only fun at the moment, so y can't I just stop stuff for an hour or so and devote that time to prayer? Please help with suggestions which will get me to pray B4 God knocks me on my *** again. Thanx. The rosary's long, that's y it's skipped, but I wanna stop, what do I do?

Pray in the morning as you are getting up. Most people don't just jump out of bed and get going right away. How about when you are sitting there on your bed, you just pray there. I remember when I was a Catholic and I don't remember them saying I had to pray in a certain place or time. Start your day out right and pray while still in bed. Don't try it at night when you are tired though cause you will fall asleep while praying. I can't tell you how many times I have done that.

I personally don't think that praying should be used just to guarantee you salvation.... and I bet many would agree with me. When I pray it is usually for the well being of others or just for the comfort of expressing myself to God.

It sounds to me that your sin is slothfulness (you get too lazy to pray) and vanity (only thinking of your salvation), rather than just not praying.

At the same time, I think you are over thinking this. You are afflicted with the most common feeling among Catholics... GUILT. There is no point in mulling over or stressing over what has (or has not) already happened. Yes, you can strive to change your praying routine and do better tomorrow. But I think it would be more important to God that you just be good person and spread your generosity/kindness to others.

I know exactly what u mean...... God is not going to hold it against you. He knows how u feel about him.. You dont nessasarly have to pray in the morning or at night. Pray whenever u want like right now. He is not going to do anything to u just cause u havent prayed. He loves u and he will still protect u. Remember he is ur bestfriend and he knows u better than u know urself. Take it easy and dont worry. Pray whenever!!!!

As a Catholic, I rarely say the Rosary. I simply talk to God. While I am driving, laying down going to sleep, listening to music, etc. God is ever present, just know that he is there and share your thoughts and heart with him. You do not have to be kneeling or putting your hands together...he knows when you are speaking to him. Make him a part of your life all the time. Do not put him on a schedule.

im a catholic and i dont pray either at night time, i dont go to mass, i do respect my religion. i can saftely say that god is not going to punish you if you dont pray at night time, what it sounds like you have a phobya (ok ok i dont know how to spell it) which you are afraid of the dark. as far as i know anybody that is afraid of the dark makes there own monsters yours happens to be fear of not praying and that god will punish you. before you go to bed tonight say a small prayer that lasts 30 seconds or so. and get a good nights sleep Sweet dream sweetheart.

did u just recently convert to Catholicism? i'm catholic and i always pray before i go to bed. Although we should pray the rosary everyday, i know MANY catholics who do not. If you really want to break this habit, go to confession and ask the Priest for assistance. He WILL find a way to help you.
take care.

Pray as soon as you wake up in the morning--pray for your day. It doesn't have to take long. Ask God to give you peace for the day and rest at night. Ask him to open all understanding to you and give you opportunities to make a difference. Know that God has promised us that he is always with us and will never forsake us or leave us. That's his promise, and he never breaks his promises.
