I'm just a bit beyond a beginner at this. I don't want to use FrontPage anymore.

What about Dreamweaver 8?

Please help.

The advantages of Dreamweaver 8 over Frontpage:

1. Cleaner code for html
2. Support for many scripting languages (PHP, ColdFusion, ASP, .Net, etc.)
3. Ability to see code and design at the same time. Which is what made me make the switch from Frontpage to DW.
4. Asset management. (You can see all your files in the files view as well as snippets and other things)
5. Ability to create CSS designs fast and easily.
6. Cross-browser code check (as well as accessbility, broken links, and other reports generation)
7. Ability to post to a remote server and thus no need for a separate FTP program (version 8 allows you to load things live while you edit local files)
8. Ability to "Find and Replace" by several methods and ALSO the ability to store your Find and Replaces as a query.

And I can go on for several more points but you get the idea. It is WAY better, much more so than you might realize at first.

The disadvantages are that it is a bit expensive and most users don't use (or don't even know of) a lot of features that DW has. There is a lot to learn if you want to be an expert/advanced user, but it saves you so much time once you are at that level.

Personally, I have never used version 4, but I think that people should always use the latest version as that is the most in demand (or will be more in demand as it matures).
