I have a good friend that i like more than just a friend. He knows this because i did tell him, but he says that we have such a great friendship he wants to wait and then see what happens. He says that becoming more than just friends will result in not being friends anymore. Is he just making excuses?

No.He is fearful of losing what you both have if things don't work out(Friendship). That tends to happen,so humans consider it the norm. It doesn't have too though. Hurt feelings/disappointments are easier to deal with if you don't have to face the other person frequently. You can transform that if you want. My ex wife and I began as friends and remain so today even though the marriage ended in 1990.It often puzzles/confuses people that we aren't angry or at the very not wanting to be around each other. It just requires taking responsibility for what you did and did not do during the relationship, forgiving and ask for forgiveness(say I'm sorry that things didn't work out etc..).Communication and honesty are key. Be the change. Peace.

No it is true. If the love relationship doesn't work out the friendship usually ends also.
Keep him as a friend and look elsewhere.

Most probably it's an excuse, but it's a good way to say no. Or maybe he's a big philosopher

nope cuz thats how he feels cuz he noes that can happene. its happened to me b4, one of my friends liked me but the thing wuz i didnt want our friendship to end cuz of it but sadly thats wat happened. =\
so dont think hes puttng it off its just that he wants to think bout whether hed want to be friends than be a bf to u. let him noe that ull wait for his decision but not too long cuz u do have a life. if he decides that hed rather stay friends with u than go out with u, get over it and move on at least u wont lost a friend in the process.
