I think that it was an important action for safety. With most sudden reforms, people will feel incovinienced, but it was for the best.

It's a waste of time and effort. It's closing one door in a building with a thousand.

Unless security hand searches every corner of every piece of luggage, they can't detect small quantities of liquids. And this does nothing for the powers or solids that are at least as big a threat. If a smart terrorist wants to smuggle a chemical-based weapon (bio-toxin or explosive) onto a plane, our current security is not going to stop them.

The amount of added security is minimal, and the amount of inconvenience is massive for people who travel frequently.

But like all security measures, it's primary goal isn't to make the planes more secure. It's to give the travelers peace of mind. Because what they don't know can't scare them, and most don't want to know the reality of how things work.

The liquids the terrorists were planing on using are very hard to detect. Hydrogen Peroxide in concentrations of 30% is very caustic, but has no smell, and is really little more than water with an extra oxygen molecule. Acetone, is extremely flammable, and could probably be detected, as it is carbon based, but you would need to build and deploy a machine.
So, I think the ban on liquids is a reasonable precaution. As for people dieing of dehydration, as stated in one answer, I think the stewards would bring you a glass of water if you ask, or better yet, a bourbon/coke or beer.

Well terrorist are day after day planning attacks. They will come with new ideas and new methods. I approve of what they did with the restriction. I approve most that people accepted this restriction without hesitation and threw all liquids away.

Personally, I tihnk it is time to start profiling young Muslim males. Profile that population group that has been proven to be the most likely to be terrorists. Profiling works. Maybe inconveniencing the Muslim community in that manner would help convince the Muslim community to speak out against terrorism and Islamo-facism.... nothing else does....

It is time to stop punishing all for the misdeeds of a few. That is what communists and socialist societies do. Are we becoming 'that'?

I think it's draconian and absurd.

But maybe after a few babies die, and a few thousand people suffer severe medical problems due to extreme dehydration, they may rethink it.

Water is a necessity, and the air in planes is dry. I have long felt it's crazy and wrong to treat everyone who travels as though they were a mass-murderer.

I think it's just another thing to remind people that they are not safe. They haven't found any evidence in any of these people's apartments that would indicate they had any liquid that could be used as explosives. Just more propaganda.
