We have easy access to condoms and birth control pills. They are even free to poor folks. I just don't get it. Don't people realize they have control over their own fates? If they can't afford to take care of their kids and have ask the Govt. for help, can't the Gov't say o.k., but as long as you are recieving help form us we just ask in return that you refrain from irresponsible reproduction. Heres a depro provera shot and come back in 6 months to get another one or we will stop your aid.

I direct this question to all. I put it here because I know that many people here are passionate about the issue of anchor babies. I am suggesting this towards all poor folks of all colors, not just illegals. I just think that if people were really concerned with the well being of a child first, they would wait until they were capable of raising that child on all levels( financially and emotionally). I am just tired of people having kid after kid and not thinking about it consequences. After all, no one needs to have children. We have them because we want them. We love chidren, and hate to see them live in poverty because their parents are irresponsible and selfish. Why can't people wait to have kids until they are read?. Why do children have to suffer in this day and ag? One more note, I have this in immigration because I am angered so much by the selfish people who have anchor babies just so they can stay here. I know one personally and she deserves no respect.

I love your question. You sound like me. It's pure stupidity to just keep having kids when you can't afford them! That is the most irresponsible thing that you can do as an adult. Who are the ones who suffer in the long run? The children, who didn't ask to be here! You have a great idea. I think it should be implemented right away.

Because many people are taught that birth control and condoms are morally wrong. For years, some US states even outlawed them. So, for many people, they are doing what comes naturally and following the dictates of their beliefs.

And no, most people don't realize that they have control over their own lives and their own fate. They exist in a world that they feel powerless to control or influence.

So, what's the solution. Forced sterilization? Deportation? Education? Pick a different political platform and you'll get a different answer.

I'm so sick of seeing people getting gov't handouts. I wish we could do away with it all together. As for the birth control, good idea, but that's something the gov't can't force people to do. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more in taxes though to have free or low-cost birth control available to EVERY legal U.S. citizen.

I see your point but I think it goes back to the government and how sterilization used to be practiced on handicapped people and criminals. It Became a law that the government no longer has a right to intefere in the reproduction of us individuals. This is why nothing is done.

Wow great question. Too many in our great country depend on government for everything. There is no more "personal responsibility" The war against terrorism is not a strain on the budget, the strain lies with all of the lazy deadbeats who say the government "owes" them.

are you sure this is supposed to be in the immigration forum?
if you are directing this only to immigrants then you've got some research to do. but just to play devil's advocate i have a question for you:
let's assume that you really want to allow government to regulate how many children IMMIGRANTS can have based on their ability to demonstrate a capable pocketbook. then would you venture to say that as long as you are natural born American you can have as many children as you'd like? be it for tax fraud purposes or due to 'irresponsible reproduction'. are you implying that you can take advantage of government aid as long as you are born in the united states?

Fact is that a man who is not working spends more time trying ot drown his misery. Wine plus free time = something that leads to unwanted pregnancies. Many poor folks believe that their children will have the opportunity that they never got.
Boaz.

uh, that's the point - they avg 5 kids a family because it's free for those that do that. They have an agenda to outnumber voters for political gain and our loss.

Where have you been?

Remember - keep your familes small, it's not worth it, you can't afford it! We need those tax dollars for other purposes...

Why put your question under Immigration, immigrants are not the only ones that have alot of children, they are not the only people that ask for public assistance. You are so damn ignorant!

It is a free country (some people think) so they feel like they can do anything they want.
