They feel alienated wherever they go because they want the control of any country even if they're a minority, when they do get it,(islamic states) they still alienate themselves and blow each other up and become suicide bombers. They must be the most discontent and unhappiest people on the planet and bring misery to everyone else. I dont buy into the foreign policy reason. The iraq war complicates things but doesnt create the problem. Dont forget before 9/11 there was no war. Russians were still in Afghanistan. All these wars do is make it easier for them to justify their real reason. Complete domination. Are we supposed to be grateful when leading muslim leaders here say that if we stop the war in iraq and stop not doing anything in israel the terrorists will stop also? So are they saying do as we say and you wont get blown to bits? Sounds like backhanded blackmail to me. And a tacit agreeing with what's happening. The appeasers nod their heads without thinking, they are incredibly naive. If they do their homework and look at the situation in other parts of the world they will see how muslims are murdering innocent civilians because they want the largest control in the government even though they themselves are not indigenous or in the minority. Muslims everywhere are in complete denial. They are absolute hypocrites. Oh and their so-called 'umah' or whatever it is they call it when one muslim's sorrow or grief, is felt by muslims around the world, how then does that fit in with them slaughtering each other?

British born muslims are exactly the same. As far as I'm concerned there are no true british muslims. They are their faith first, something else second and british at the end of everything when they're caught in foreign countries and afraid of the death penalty and want Britain to step in and rescue them. As for the women, well my dears you are fortunate that you have the freedom to say and do as you please, go and live in an islamic state after being used to here, and see where that will get you.

This government is sleepwalking into a very precarious future.

It could only be Muslim. Called me racist or zealot but it's the fact. Certain countries in SE Asia too face this problem hence their top military personnel are never Muslim.

I guess not other East Asian people would not turn to terrorism and go against it country. We are taught as Oriental people that without country, there is no family. But sad to say many Muslims took religion like life and death. Betrayal of one's country is always considered a shame for 100 generations!

We don't see Hindu militias in India fought against the Sri Lankan govt because their civil war was against Tamil who are Hindu, while Sri Lankan majority are Buddhists.

You also don't see Thai Buddhist militants go to Southern Thailand to wage wars with the Thai Muslims who constantly bombing and killing innocents.

But in Indonesia, you see the different, Ambon, Timor etc...Abu Bakar and some others jihadi would sent militias to burn churches and murder innocents.

When the tsunami came and hit hard on Aceh, other groups/ community came to help, what happened to these Islamic militias and Middle Eastern Muslim countries? Yet a renowned Arabic cleric would said? " Punishment from Allah (God)" No protest...No burning of effigies, no fatwa or what ever...

If other religious cleric said that, I think, they rather drowned themselves in the seas than saved by this religious group that uttered so.

As we approach the fifth official anniversary of the “war on terror”, the foiled UK “terror plot” has neatly provided George W Bush, the “leader of the free world”, with a chance to remind us of our fight against the “Islamic fascists”. But what if the war on terror is not really about separating the good guys from the bad guys, but about deciding what a good guy can be allowed to say and think?

What if the “Islamic fascism” President Bush warns us of is not just the terrorism associated with Osama bin Laden and his elusive al-Qaeda network but a set of views that many Arabs, Muslims and Pakistanis -- even the odd humanist -- consider normal, even enlightened? What if the war on “Islamic fascism” is less about fighting terrorism and more about silencing those who dissent from the West’s endless wars against the Middle East?

Can we have an independent inquiry this time or are supposed to swallow and vomit and lick back another white wash like we do every time?

All British Muslims aren't terrorist. And those who do turn to terrorism then its because they have been judged by the whole of Britain after 9/11. The way the British government are treating them isn't really encouraging. They have nothing else to believe in so they turn to psycho fundamentalists that encourage terrorism.

The Koran teaches conversion or death to all non-believers. If one believes truly in the teachings of ones Holy book they will follow the word and carry out those teachings. As most religions and non-believers will not convert to Islam even forcibly the only alternative is to kill all non-believers. The country where they are born has no bearing on that just how deeply they believe in the teachings of the Koran.

As long as there has been a God there has been killing in his name no matter who u believe in. The only difference is that its modern day warfare. Christians and catholics batteled it out for centuries over it now its just another god. In the next few years it might be a new religon fighting for the same things

sweetie, there are others in the world regardless of which country or religion they may be. i guess, you could call them the extremists, and they exists everywhere. too much anger in them and you know what they say... when you're angry, you tend to make wrong decisions. all it takes is for someone to come along and stir up your emotions to trigger the hatred, thus pushing their buttons. i don't believe that that these people wake up one day and say,"I'm gonna be a terrorist today." somebody instigated, blindly led the way and someone just blindly follow..

For the same reason the U.S. has homegrown terrorists. In the past, if you got mad at your country you moved to a new one. Now it's more difficult to migrate, especially if you want to go to a country where running water and electricity aren't considered luxuries, so, for lack of a better option in their eyes, explosives, violence, fear and murder are used.

Study extremists. The guy US killed in Iraq a month ago learned his extreme belief in England. Alot of them learn there, and relocate back home.
