No! And I just heard TD Jakes speak on this not long ago. It was all about how much faith Abraham had in God! To set out on God's calling, not knowing where he was going and he was told, by God, not to take food or any provisions and Abraham obeyed. God provided everything Abraham needed along the way and although Abraham had no idea where he was going, he went, on step at a time in complete faith! Isn't that incredible! Oh, if only I could have that much faith! God bless!

God did not tell Abraham that he would be going to the land of Canaan. God instructed Abraham to go to the land that I will show to you. Abraham did not know that it would be Canaan until he got there. At this point the Lord spoke to Abraham and told him "to your offspring I will give this land".

I think he left and GOD guided him just like the many others that were seeking truth. And he had to be right because GOD is not for play or amusement.GOD was with him.He even ended up in Arabia. He is the one believed to have built the Kaaba in Mecca. The place the muslims take thier pilgrimage to.Most prophecies of the jewish, christian, and islamic faith stems from him and his progeny. If he was wrong, why did GOD fullfill HIS covenant with him.I know you have read the story about the footprints in the sand. This is a perfect situation where that truth applies.BYE LOVE!

Remember Canaan was the land that God promised His ppl the Israelites. Moses was their leader and was supposed to bring them to Canaan. Thus he set out to go to Canaan. However Moses did not get to see the city becos he got angry with God and so God told him that he would not c Canaan.
When God took Moses, Moses did not know, or i do not think he knew where he was going. He just knew he was going with God or to be with God.

Very good question.
Abraham did not know where he was going but he followed God's word because he had faith in God.
Genesis does not confirm that Abraham knew where he was going. But God knew where He was sending Abraham.
It's like this: If your mother told you to follow arrows in your house to discover your birthday present. You have no idea where you are going, but you are following the arrows. BUT your mother looks at your friend at says "She's going to the bedroom because that's where her present is at."
That doesn't mean that you know where you're going. You're still blind to the destination...but your mother knows because she hid the present. And your friend knows because she heard the word from your mother.

God told him to go to a land that he would show him. when he got to that area that god intended for him god promised it to him and he asked for proof, gods proof was that his descendants would live in Egypt for 400 years, what would have happened if Abraham had taken god's word the first time? and why is it that people who doubt god's word are still in the land on void. I would rather trust god's word that try to make since of the world we live in.

He had blind faith, like I did....
I was saved in 1976 but didn't go to church right away. I fell away from God. 22 years later, in 1998, I was on my way to pick up my daughter for the weekend from my ex (comon-law). I suddenly knew they were moving and that it was a long way away. When I got to the door, my ex said, "Come in and sit down, I have something to talk to you about." I already knew what it was. They were moving 1200 miles away. Thing is, even if you decide to ignore Jesus for 22 years after getting saved, He still helps you when you really need it. As I was preparing to move, I began reading the Bible. I felt it very important to memorize Matthew 25:40, which was unusual for me because I never memorized any scripture before at all.
I prayed to Heavenly Father in Jesus' name for a wife. I told no one about my prayer. A week later, a woman I knew called me and said, "You're not going to believe this, but God inspired me to ask you out on a date!" We got married six months later.
When I was engaged in 2001, my future father-in-law became very upset with me. He ****** back his fist and said, "I'll drive you..." Suddenly I quoted the scripture I had memorized three years earlier and 1200 miles away. He turned white as a sheet and walked away. Turned out, it was his father's favourite scripture!
I went to a church and was asked to help pass sacrament. As I stood there looking at the covered plates of bread, I suddenly felt a JOY that came into my chest; it didn't come from me but came into me. It was so shockingly beautiful I didn't know I was crying until a tear got half way down my cheek.
He gives you the proof AFTER you have faith.
In Jesus' name.

From what I've heard, Abraham was a nomad who really disliked cities. I would assume he followed a water source and just wandered.

No, Its called blind faith. Sorry but I don't recommend that. It's kinda like having a mental illness and wondering why noone else hears the voice of god speaking to them. Therefor making you special cause you can hear the voice of God.

Of course he knew where he was going, don't be silly. He was heading to Wal-Mart to pick up some batteries for his iPod. You see Jesus ran them down listening to lame *** Phish songs.
