We have nitrogen in our tires.
It's better because it doesn't heat up as much as air, so not as much expansion, also it doesn't eat away (break down) the tires like air does.

For the people who think it's unsafe: It does NOT blow up and you don't put it in yourself, we take it back to the place we got them, in this case, Costco, and they fix or fill them.

Now you know :o)

To John Paul: you're wrong!.......we've had them for 5 months and they haven't changed pressure at all...we DO NOT need to get them filled every month.

Nitrogen does not expand with heat as much as air so the tire pressure stays more constant. Also, it is not affected as much by changes in altitude as air. This is because air contains a high percentage of water which nitrogen does not.

You could potentially bust a tire filling it with anything but ordinary air. Nitrogen may or may not be less dense than air. If you put the same pressure of a gas that is of lower density, the volume will be higher.

Some auto dealerships say it is the way to go. Gimmicks to keep you coming back in once a month for nitrogen. Yes if your not checking your tires every month you could be driving unsafely. Good old air available almost anywhere is used in motor racing and should be good for you and me too!

nitro leaks less than air so your tire pressure is more easily maintained.
