Our college has a course called Personal Effectiveness which is great for confidence and social skills, I did it as part of a course I was doing and I was pretty lacking in confidence beforehand, now I can take on the world and his wife and I am much more confident socially too, maybe that might be of use to you, have a word at your local college and see if they have any courses to give you better social/confidence skills, good luck.

There are courses available to improve confidence or even social skills available. Perhaps going to your local career advisor will help you with this one. Many charities offer courses too as well as local community colleges.

Toastmasters offers a proven way to improve your communication skills. By participating in a fun and supportive Toastmasters group, you'll become a better speaker and leader and gain confidence to succeed in whatever path you've chosen in life.

Find a Toastmasters club near you (they have clubs in the UK): http://www.toastmasters.org/find/default.asp

Try moving out of the country. There's nothing good in the UK.
