I was concidering adopting a child when I'm older, but, I'm sort saddened about it, cause I heard it takes a long time. I was thinking, if I said "ok, I'd like to adopt you", it would take me 4 years to get through the paperwork, and there'd be no bonding allowed with the child, you know? Also, it costs so much money, why? You can't adopt babies for free? I mean, it's probably to show you're financially stable but..lol how many people can concider themselves stable after giving 10,000 dollars? lol

It doesn't take that long! The homestudy process should take about 3-4 months altogether. The amount of time you wait depends on where you're adopting from. As for the money, yes, it does cost about $10,000 for an adoption, but you get that money back through the adoption tax credit after the adoption is completed. That is, you can take ALL the $10,000 in expenses right back.

Also, you can check into the foster-to-adopt programs available in most states through your local child welfare agency. This usually gives you the option of a free or very low cost adoption.

The paperwork is not that bad. People talk about the home-study being the worst. Mine was very easy and not scary like everyone would like you to think. interracial babies are the easiest to adopt. But what does color mean it's the love a child brings to you.

I've heard the same, and it is very sad to me. I know of children that are abused, and the courts want to give their parent 15,000 chances before they'll terminate parental rights and let them be up for adoption. How sad that is to gamble with a childs life like that. NO ONE should be given a second chance to abuse a child!!! It's just a messed up system!

i have heard that a lot of white people do not want to adopt black babies because of society influence on white and black side. but i also hear an abundance of black babies are available now. if u want a white baby or a foreign one it takes time and money more and many years sometimes.
