Besides cutting it which is not an option, what is an effective method of getting gum out of hair. Shampoo doesn't seem to work very well.

Shampoo alone won't work at all. You have to use something oily, (peanut butter, olive oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, etc..) on the gum. It slides right out of the hair. Then use Dawn to wash the oil out. It worked on my three year old daughter's hair and she didn't cry one tear!

Peanut Butter works very well, and I used it quite a few times myself. Just smear some on there, and then try to work out the gum, then rinse your hair. It really works!!!!

try using peanut butter. just put it on the piece of your hair where the gum is, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and wash it out. it works-i've used it a lot-i'm a babysitter.

Peanut Butter will get it out. I have three kids and run a daycare and it always does the trick. Peanut Butter will get it out of anything.

Try the peanut butter that everyone has recommended, then if that doesn't work put ice on it. Once it's frozen hard you can pop it right off.

usually what works for me is to freeze it in an ice cube bath, just your hair. freezing it makes the gum hard and way easier to wok with. it also works with gum on clothing.

Surprisingly putting peanut butter on the gym will help remove it!

don't put water on it, that just causes mor friction. try rubbing a little conditioner or wait until the gum dries out.
