You don't have to respect other peoples beliefs. It's a problem that has come with the definition of tolerance being reworked. You need to respect other people, but not always their ideas. Respect for other people leaves you wide open to politely, graciousally explain why you disagree, and opens the door for real discussion. Respect for ideas forces you to shut your mouth and smile, and pretend that truth is not something to be grasped.

Tell it like it is brother. Religious people seem to cherry pick from the bible, koran, or whatever their chosen "holy book" is. They follow the things that they agree with and dismiss the rest. I know people say u should respect other people s beliefs but I think that s bull ****. If I 2000 yrs ago people believed in bleedings, witches and all sorts of stupid *** ****. I think we should call it as it is, I mean if I told u I worship unicorns and garden gnomes u would say it s stupid. Yet if millions of people believed the same thing suddenly you re supposed to respect it, come on.

Fine.. don't respect other religions... but don't expect any respect in return. It's a two-way street and quite frankly, just the decent thing to do. If everyone started not respecting everyone else, I think there would be even more fighting in this world than there is already.

You said you respect race, gender, etc. Well, that's just it. Religious beliefs go to the very core of a person. It is "food for the" made up "soul". You aren't going to change their beliefs, so try to live peacefully with everyone and respect them fully, not only when it is convenient.
Be good.

IF YOU RESIST THEM LOOK OUT THEY WILL GIFT WRAP A BIBLE ON YOUR DOOR STEP! THEY WILL KEEP COMING BACK UNTIL YOU MOVE OUT! MOVE TO DIFFERENT COUNTRY! BUT THEY WILL FOLLOW YOU!
IT IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION IT IS ABOUT A PERSONS PERSONALITY SOME ARE VERY AGGRESSIVE THEY THINK THEY CAN JUST RUN YOU OVER.AND USE THE BIBLE AS THEIR EXCUSE!

Who said that you had to. If you believe in the only living God Jesus Christ, then why respect other religions. Jesus didn't. He showed people what was wrong with themselves and showed them the reason why He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I respect an individuals choice to which belief they wish to follow even if I disagree with the belief. For me that is respect. I was raised to show respect and I will even if it is not given back to me because otherwise it would compromise my beliefs.

Just let them be. As crazy and insane as it may sound to you (lol and me), I don't think we have the right to trash somebody's whole belief system. Yes, we can discuss it rationally and expose our points of view based on fact or whatever, but trashing it is a whole 'nother ball game. I guess my way of seeing it is that nothing good ever comes out of seriously messing with other peoples faith system.

Sir, as much as you may not agree with a lot of people's beliefs, in order for you to be respected you need to respect people back. I don't agree with a lot of things people claim are right when speaking of theology, but I respect it because it's their belief and I'll have my own. I agree when you say that you are tired of fanaticism. Whichever belief anyone has, we all have to learn to respect each other, despite our differences in faith or non-faith.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe if everyone's religion got its just respect then the world wouldn't be in such turmoil. Do you watch the news? The answer should be obvious.
