My cat started vomiting this morning as i noticed 3 piles of barf...i dont know which one (i have 4 cats) but i'm guessing its kitty, the 2 year old. is this just vomiting out the bad stuff in her body or is she sick?

I have a couple of cats that eat some breakfast, go out into the garden and eat some grass. Then they come in the house and barf up the food and the grass. Then they want to have more food to eat!
I would like to have them make a little "pet deposit", say a quarter, with me in the morning. Then if they barf up the food I can keep the "deposit" so I have money for cat food when we run out.
I am not minimizing the other posters who have offered you good suggestions as to how to look into this problem.

Depends on if they are really hairy or not. In the summer cats lose for hair and when they clean themselves it all gets into their system and they barf a little more than usual. My cat is long-haired and does that on occasion. See if it persists and call a vet if it does.

Wow, there are some great answers here.
Fur balls look different from food vomit...they usually contain, no surprise, fur. If that's what it is, keep your cat brushed, and if it happens again, put some vaseline on the top of one of her paws. Sheill lick it off and it will stop the barfing.
Cats have amazingly sensitive digestive systems. Keep her on the same food regimen...changing food can really cause problems.
If this continues during the day, I'd definitely call the vet and see what he/she suggests, which will probably include a visit ASAP.
Good luck with your cat!

Do the piles of barf look wet or more solid?
if it's the second answer, then you're cats are like mine; they sometimes barf up fur balls. If you're cat is fluffy, then give it a hairball remedy food or treats. Unfortunatley, it won't stop the problem, so you just have to put with it.

cats on lower quality of food (any from grocery or wal mart) have a higher incidence of vomiting because of the extra fillers in the food and the higher fat content combined with the fact these foods contain very little meat so the cat has to eat more so injests more problem causers anyhow....
hairball vomit also can be from eating these lower quality foods since cats on better foods shed less anyhow...
give her hairball remedy or canned pumpkin
if you see any other symptoms such as lethargy or refusal to eat or diharea - please see a vet
occassionally cats are so full of worms they will vomit (particularly if this cat hasnt been dewormed and goes outside

Although *occasional* vomiting is not unusual in the cat, watch her to make sure it is not frequent. If so, get her to a vet immediately.
Other things to consider:
if she's had access to poison - to the vet immediately!
If you've changed her food and this is when it began, make sure you mix her former food w/the new food - the changeover should be gradual.
Yes, it could be bad food
Yes, she could be sick!

Sometimes cats eat grass. I dont know why but probably if it rained she or he drank the water and they mixed and they usually vomit it after. You should check once in a while to see which ones vomit.

It is most likely the grass...it will be okay. My cat eats grass everytime I take him outside. If he eats too much he throws up. It's liquidy like that too.

cats throwing up is pretty common place, they don't mind it as much as we do. Watch how they eat, as a kitty who gorges might be eating too qucikly in an effort to not have their portion stolen by an alpha.
Cats will eat grass to make themselves throw up as well, you didnt say if they went out or ate house plants.
It is worth watching closely to confirm which kitty it is and if there are any other symptoms.
good luck!
