My cd rom is also doing the same. Any answer will be appreciated.

You may have accidnetally speeded up the playback time...

Im not exactly sure, but if you enable the add-ons menu (change color, bass, etc.) there should be one called "Speed" or something like that - just put it back down to the middle (default?)... Sorry if it's so vague, but I haven't used 9 in years... they are up to 11 by now.

Here we go!
Top of window VIEW> Enhancements > Show enhancements

Go to the Play Speed Settings and change it to Normal

Last but not least check your output device. If the cable (probably inside of the cable can't be seen from outside) loose sometimes you only get the trebel and not bass which make it sounds like chipmunks

updates.. for it .. bad disk >?or when u loaded if u loaded it for free it is corrupt.. it will sound very fast forward..
