How about using the top of the piano as a shelf for some modern structures? Does it come with a bench or a stool? Find some fabric to match the room to recover the top if it is a bench.
I don't know if the woods are light or dark. But, a nice glorious modern painting right above too. The piano can be your final masterpiece to finish the room!

Have the piano professionally refinished with a colour wash or a solid laquer to match your room colours. Then incorporate GothicMartha's Ideas(they were great).

You can actually get a black ebony piano that looks modern. Do a search for it online.

It might be tough. You could make a facade out of painted fiber board maybe.... if it isn't a valuable piece, you could paint it... but chances are it will always look a little out of place.
