as tammi said, if the jews weren't living there, then jesus wouldn't have been either.
on the side, since jesus wasn't the messiah, it's possible that a different upbringing would have resulted in a normal life for him, not one in which he made ridiculous claims and started his own religion. too bad, eh?

Since Jesus is Jewish He would be born where ever Jews are.
