If your period is heavy, you may find pads work best. There were times when mine was so heavy I used tampons and pads together. I used tampons for 30 years with no ill effects. Just change them regularly. I preferred tampons because they were neater. Don't use the belts...they are a real nuisance and can you even fnd those old pads with the front and back tabs anymore? If you use pads, use the stick-on ones and use the thickness you require for the time in your period. But for my choice, it would be tampons. Again, using the absorbency you need for the time in your period. They are handier to carry in your purse too.

I think both pads (the self adhesive ) and tampons should be used.It depends on what you are doing and what part of your period you are on.I like tampons toward the end and if I'm doing sports or anything really active, for all other times I prefer a pad.I don't see the need for belts any more what with the types of pads that are available now.

pads or sanitary belts are better for health and comfort. If you are wearing tight pants, skirt, or swimming, go for the tampon :-)...tampons have a slight risk of toxic shock syndrome.

Much better than any old belt (which I am barely old enough to remember but I started on them), sticky pads, or tampons, all of which are unhealthy for our bodies and fill up the landfills, are menstrual cups.
I haven't bought or disposed of a single sanitary product in over a year. I love mine!

I like tampons, because they give you the comfort of moving easily without having to worry about leakage... And since they are worn inside the body, i am more at ease. Pads make me feel like I am just plain out wearing a diaper..LOL

tampons definitely once you get the hang of them. Perhaps not health wise as you have that toxic shock thing, but as long as you don't keep them in longer than you're supposed to you should be fine. I just feel so much....less yucky, using them.
