The Bible teaches that He will take the "believers in Christ" (who have trusted the forfeiture of his own life for their redemption from the penalty of sin)off of the earth first in an event called by Christians "the rapture" as told in 1st Thessalonians Ch. 4 verses
13-18. He will come suddenly-with a loud command -the sound of a trumpet and the voices of the archangels. It teaches that the dead in Christ shall rise first-then those Christian believers who are alive will be drawn up together with Him into the Heavens. Then will come the times of tribulation as told in the Book of Revelation which will include the entrance on Earth of a world leader- the AntiChrist- and a false prophet and a time of trouble and grief such as has never been. He will cause all people to take a mark in their right hand or forehead-no one can buy or sell without it; but the taking of this id mark iis an alliance with the Prince of Darkness-Lucifer and the world system. To refuse this mark will be a death sentence. God will raise up an army of 144,000 Jewish virgin preachers to encompass the globe with a message of forgiveness and an opportunity to receive salvation through belief in Christ and His atonement made for us on the cross. All belivers will be sealed in their foreheads by the Holy Spirit. During the following years, Moses and Elijah will come back to Earth and preach in the streets of Jerusalem They will be killed and on the 3rd day rise again miraculously. After 7 yrs. there will be a huge war-Armageddon-Many countries against Israel-the scripture says the blood will reach to the horses' bridles. At the peak of this event -Christ and the Saints will return to reclaim His throne on Earth. For 1000 years Christ will reign in peace-after that the devil will be loosed for a season and all who wish to follow him will do so. After that is the Great White Judgement seat where all peoples who have rejected God's salvation will be judged according to their works. This is my humble understanding of the scriptures-hope it is of some help to you in your search.

Jesus will meet the Christians in the air during the rapture, then in 7 years after the great tribulation he will return with such power that no one will mistaken it. There will be a massive earthquake when he steps on the mount of olives and he will destroy the armies that are lined up to destroy Israel. Amazing, but its all in the bible. Revelation, the last book of the bible is full of this information.

Rev. 1:7 says that when He comes, every eye shall see Him. As the lightening comes out of the east and goes even to the west, such is as the coming of the Son of Man. Other places it speaks of great thunders and earthquakes and trumpets sounding, the dead coming up out of their graves and going up to meet Him in the air along with those of us that remain that are His. With all that evidence, I think we all will know when He comes back with no question of who He is. And no, I do not believe anyone that tells me he is Jesus. They may have the name but they are not THE Jesus.

Jesus said that only the Father in heaven knows the day and the hour that Jesus will come back...
you will know by either of 2 ways:
1. you will be caught up to be with him
2. you will be left behind and there will be alot of people missing that you might know... also the antichrist will come to power, pretending to bring peace to the middle easr, which will be a fase peace..
Jesus said there would be people claiming to be him, but ignore them.. when he returns, he will come as a king of glory so he will be hard to miss

1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

when he comes we will know because, we won't be here, we will be with him. we will be carried up toward him, he won't touch the earth when he comes for his church.
during the second coming of Christ, you will know him, the Bible says that every eye shall see him, no one will have to tell you who he is, you will know.
