"Romans were building aquaducts at the same time that Britians and Gauls (ancient French) were painting their chests."

uh, I'm sorry, I'm french and I can tell you that Gallic chief Brennus have defeated the capital city Rome by the year 390 BC (from this victory came the expression: "Vae Victis" in latin), cause Gallic were the first to know how to use Iron ; but that's true that some centuries after, Romans get stronger and defeated Gallics (in Alesia).; just take a look in wikipedia....and if you want to go further back in time, Romans were babies regarding Etrusques, Greeks, or Persians.
