I am not an expert on the matter but I would have to think not. Puppy food is designed to meet the needs of a dog, and kitten food is designed to meet the needs of a cat. A cat and a dog are very different in their makeup. Stick with puppy food.

No, cat food is much higher in protein (and other things) than dog food and can lead to problems with the kidneys, as well as other problems.

You can start a four week old pup on some good quality canned food, you can put a bit of water in it if it's too hard for them.

Also get some good quality puppy kibble and some puppy milk, soak the dry in the milk and feed it to them.

Kitten/cat food is to greasy for dogs...NO dog should eat kitten/cat food!

I raised two litters of Rottweiler puppies (mom tried to kill the first and the other mother got milk fever).

The best thing to do is to go to either your local feed store or pet store and get Bil-jac puppy food (very soft and great quality) (no other puppy food works as good...sorry!) and puppy supplement milk...moisten food with hot water (warm will cool off to quickly)... when you have a mush, add puppy milk to it (water should be cool enough for the puppies to eat by now...make sure it is not cold!)...let the puppies eat until full...if mom is able, let her clean the puppies up...this is also good for the mom (as long as she is not vomiting).
Puppies will not need to nurse if you will feed this way.

Get Mom to the vet if you haven't already.
Good luck with your puppies

Absolutely not!!!! Puppies can't eat cat food. Feed them puppy chow moistened with water. But at 4 weeks, they still need to be nursing so the food would only be a supplement.

No it's not ok at all. Dog and cat food is totally different. At four weeks they should be on puppy food and still be with the mother.

OK everybody repeat after me: Dogs are not Cats Cats are not Dogs. What is good for one can make the other sick.
Why can't you get a sack of Puppy food?

It won't hurt them, but it probably won't be correctly balanced
for the different vitamins and enzymes they need. Its fine for a
holdover to prevent them from eating each other.

Do not, however, feed them that for a long period of time.
Puppyhood (like childhood) is when organs grow - they require
the right vitamins, proteins, enzymes, etc. The better balanced,
the healthier the dog.

Of course other factors will matter more (exercize, stimulation).

Also note that dogs (and puppies) frequently have diarrhea
whenever anything significantly changes in their diet.

You are best off picking the right food and sticking to it.

Kitten food is higher in fat, and isn't the proper nutritional make up for your puppies. I'm assuming you are giving them as a supplement to their mothers milk? (which is also very high in fat) Puppy food is best.

It is not a good idea to feed any dog of any age cat food, or kitten food. It will give them the runs, and make them sick if they get enough of it.
