Long story short have any of you in here been terrified and I mean terrified to do something, but knew that all the terror you were feeling wasnt good for you. You already had the worse case scenario going around and around in your head and it was terrifying. I am not talking about things like breaking up with someone or talking to them I am talking about a medical thing. How did any of you gather up the courage. Just one day you said enough of this, I have to face this terror.
thanks for your time, I am not sure if anyone will respond but I figured I would try

If you are a person of faith, you can find comfort there.

Also, just try to deal with the issue of the moment. Dealing with the issue of the future just saps all your strength. Really, it will only be an issue when you are in the hospital, and then it will be over within the day.

Being terrified about something is deep rooted. You have to look at the cause as to why you feel this way. Only a professional can help you but not Y!A. Self styled professionals here can give you wrong advise and you could end up in a hospital. So, quit following any of the answers here.

I am not a professional. So, I will not go into diagnosing your situation.

Pointedly, to answer your question, yes everyone goes through fear or be terrified about something. It is the degree to which one is affected that varies. In your case it could be something more than normal, I do not know.

But, think about this one from Shakespeare: "A timid dies a thousand times a brave but once".

You limit yourself with your own actions, sensibilities and emotions. All of them are controllable. More effort is necessary in some people's cases. Success and failure are something you have put a limit unconsciously. Timidity is but another controllable trait.

Im not sure that I understand what your terrified of. Some people may not respond because they dont understand completely what your trying to say. I will tell you this.......if you have no courage to face life...then you are never going to be happy. You have a fighter inside of you that will come out if you allow that to happen. Find your voice.....stand up for what you feel is right. If you have a medical issue that your scared of.....by all means, take care of it. Dont let fear control your life. Its just an emotion, its not a monster. You control your emotions. Good luck.

I have never had a serious medical problem, but I've had rough times, and times I thought were going to get rough. I think the advice posted here, so far, is good. The way I would put it is: find faith in a higher power of some kind, and put your faith in that power. Realize that whatever is going to happen happens for a reason, and it's only going to happen one day at a time.

I would recommend that you read all or a few chapters of Man's Search for Meaning by Victor E. Frankl. He found that even in some of the worst conditions ever imposed on human beings--the Nazi concentration camps--some people were able to find meaning in their lives, to appreciate beauty, and to display love and courage.

I think the trick to finding courage is finding wisdom and love and respect and courage and everything else all at the same time. They kinda work together really well but without one the rest work less good... Do what in your mind/heart is right and you will never have to live with regrets again. Accept that what you do is pure and out of love and your world can turn from hell to heaven on a dime.

Hold your head up high, put a smile on your face, and do what has to be done.

Now repeat after me - I am strong. I am capable. I can do this and I will be better for it.
