When a dog is neutered the testes are removed from the scrotum, so it elliminates all occurences of testicular cancer, a disease becoming very common in dogs. neutering will also keep your dog from spraying in the house and spraying at EVERY light pole he passes when you walk him, he will still spray on occasion but the urge will not be as great.. As for you dogs temperment, you can look forward to a much calmer dog who will not wander because he is not being ruled by his testosterone anymore!!!

** always spay or neuter your animals... save lives by not creating new and unwanted ones **

Experts say it is much better for a pet's health so I am assuming they could live longer.

Neutering should be done to all pets.

Just get your pet neutered and enjoy life playing with your pet. If we worried about every little thing we would never have any fun.

I know I give my little dog an occasional fast food snack. No it is not good for her, but she is healthy and she and I enjoy driving up to a fast food place so much. She starts getting excited as soon as we get on the right street. It is the high spot of her week. So enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Studies have shown that they will live longer and healthier lives. I would wait until the dog is at least one yr of age before neutering. When neutering, all hormones are cut off from the dog's system. These hormones play an important role in his growth and developement.

Yes neutering your pet will help them live longer, some times if you have a female that's not been fixed they could get cancer in the hip's, that's just one example.

YES! I assume it's a male? When he is not neutered and there are females around on heat, he will go crazy, it's hormonally driven and instinct. The constant pacing and frustration can compromise their immunity and leave them vulnerable to infections, viral, some of which are fatal and bacterial, especially if he escapes and gets into fights or mates (pets have sexually transmitted diseases too) In a male, desexing will prevent testicular cancer and other diseases of the reproductive organs. Desexing will leave you with a sweeter smelling, cleaner, generally nicer companion.

If by chance your pet is a female, if left entire, they can get pyometra, a uterine infection (similar to endometriosis in humans but far more dangerous) which is usually symptomless until it's too late and the pet undergoes emergency desexing but the surgery is high risk and if the uterus ruptures and the infection leaks into the peritoneal cavity, they will usually die. They can also get ovarian cysts and the same applies as with pyometra, no symptoms, usually ends in death of the pet. It also prevents mammary cancer and other cancers of the reproductive tract. being on heat and birthing also compromises immunity and the same applies as it does to a male in regards to infections.

When you neuter a dog it cuts down on testicular cancer. As to if the dog will live longer, I don't think anyone can answer that for sure. Good luck.

The pet will PROBABLY live longer because

1) He's not out chasing females and probably getting into fights over them.
2) He's not as likely to be shot or poisoned while engaging in the said pursuit.
and 3) You won't be tempted to kill him for marking territory in your home.

I doubt neutering will have any effect on a pets life span. I don't have any scientific data to support it. But all of our pets have always been spayed or neutered and they have all had pretty typical life spans.

Lowers the risk of prostrate cancer
Most dogs who are not neutered and live to at lest 10 have an enlagred prostrate and are developing or have cancer.

Yes it will help the animal to live longer for several reasons. One being that they are less susceptible to problems with their reproductive organs and two, because they are less likely to travel looking for companions and hence, get into fights with other animals.
