How old is your son? I know several people with bi-polar disorder, and yes, they are able to work, as long as they take their meds. You need to get a diagnosis first, then get him on the correct meds (he may not be ADHD) (that behavior may be connected to his other disorder, make sure to ask). The learning disabilities need to be addressed too. They also may be connected to his disorder. Once you have a correct diagnosis, set up a conference at his school, with the principal, teacher, social worker, special ed. teacher specializing in LD, Speech, whatever he needs. You may need to get an advocate, to help you through all of this. Talk to your doctor about this, I'm sure that he can refer you. After all of this, then see if your son qualifies for SSI. You definately will need someone to help you through that, and advocate or some sort of legal advisor. Good luck.

the chances are good he will qualify for SSI based on what you've said. the dr will have to sign forms on his condition and SSI will determine if he is unable to do any kind of employment based on his condition.besides a long list of physical illnesses i get SSI payments for ADHD bi-polar/psycosis. i have short term memory and no concentration so i am not qualified for any type of employment

my daughter has ADD and a few learning disabilities. i tried for ssi for her a few years ago but wasnt approved. if you believe your son is either bipolar or schizophrenic then you will first need to have him evaluated by either a phsychiatrist or a neurologist. a diagnosis of the above mentioned disabilities will also help with approval. if he is then turned down you can reappeal. typically social security turns down on the first try. good luck!

"Thinks"?
You would need tests to prove schizophrenia to qualify for SSI
