I'm just in the "thinking about it" phase now & was really wondering how difficult and/or feasible it would be.

It's very feasible. You should work your a** off in US and invest your money in IRA/401(K)/Bonds/Shares such that you make sure that you can afford to live in Scotland when you are retired.

You have to take some inuit training (eskimo)
to endure wind, lashing rain and cold. And then
only you can start thinking about it.
