That's a good question.

I think most will tell you that they can "feel" his presence in their lives. Some will say, "I'd rather praise and be wrong than not praise and be wrong."

Every person starts off not being a Christian. It is a decision each person has to make, whether or not to accept the truth of the gospel message or reject it.

The fear of God is an awesome fear, like a big respect for the infinite Creator.

God is love, and His love is unconditional. He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. If people reject his mercy and grace, then they have every reason to fear Him for the coming judgement.

The christian has nothing to fear (in that meaning of the word), but the unbeliever will be judged and cast into the lake of fire.

I believe in god out of Love for Him not oout of fear. I fear the discipline He will hand down if I do not follow His laws just like I fear the police and therefore I obey the laws. I want to be known as an honest , law abiding citizen. I feel that if you fear God not the punishment for sins then you can't have apersonal relationship with Him. Also if this was all there was to life was here on earth why would we need to worry about anything else even obeying the laws of the land. You really need apersonal relationship with Lord to understand it is not fear but Love that drives chritians in their faith at least mine.

Fearing God is only half of it. The fear of God is the knowledge we have that He can strike us down at any moment. This is New and Old Testament theology. But we don't (or shouldn't) spend every waking moment trembling before God. Because aside from being just, He is also a loving, caring Heavenly Father. He loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son to die for our sins (John 3:16).

This is why we believe. Because God loves us, and we love Him.

While fear is used in the doctrine, religious belief is a very personal thing, and each believer probably has a unique reason for their beliefs.
I'm sure many people fear God, but that would seem more of an argument to reject Him than to worship Him.I don't have snakes in my house because i'm afraid of them. Why would I embrace God if I were afraid of Him?

Christians believe in God because they choose to. And yes they fear God, but fear is not what makes them believe. Faith is what makes them believe. I am a Christian , and just like anyone else, i have a choice as to what i believe, I believe in God, and I fear God. God giveth and God taketh away.

God Bless You.

We don't believe in God cause we fear him. What would make you think that is why Christians believe in God?

Actually, the fear is not scared although it touches on that. The fear is reverence...such as you felt as a small child when your strong daddy saved you from the mean dog....what a powerful man your dad was to be able to not only save you but to calm that scary animal down...and then support you while you tentitively reached out your hand in trust...and got to feel soft fur.

It is an undying respect, love, humility....the Almighty already knows the path of my life...I must trust that He knows what He is doing. I fear His awesome power, He has caused many miracles and wonders thru-out history. Praise God!

I am Christian - I believe in God because His message and truth are written on my heart as He states in Scripture. I fear Him in a postive way - a reverence type of fear; not a "being afraid" type of fear. Like a fear one would have of a parent when he's done wrong... it's hard to describe. I know he loves me, but His awesome power and holiness put me in a position of extreme reverence. God bless you. ~Nisa

We do not fear God in the way the world sees fear. To fear God means, to reference Him, respect Him.

To fear God doesn't mean to literally be afraid of Him. It means to revere and show respect for Him. I personally hate the saying "fear God" because it can be very misleading.
