My ex and I broke up 3 weeks ago. (He's 29 and I'm 33). Neither one of us have children and he's now involved with a girl (27) that has a 5 year old daughter. He's never dated anyone with children before and I'm just curious...how often do young single guys without children get seriously involved with women who do have children?? Is this more than likely just a passing thing for him??

most younger men.. it's a passing thing. Not always though - if he has the urge to settle down it may be what he's looking for

His success or failure will depend on how he handles difficult situations.
The only reason I ever dated women with children is because women over 25 without children, and don’t want them are almost impossible to find.
I don’t think the children are as much of a problem as the adults that are involved.
My former spouse has three children by her first marriage. Both of her marriages were busted by her mother whom could no keep out of her life. Her mother ultimately controller the children by offering them bribes, to serve her own agenda. The children suffered greatly due to this.
Often she would expect the children to spy on us. She would ask them questions about when we got up in the morning. Other times she asked them to look in my nightstand, wallet, glove box of my car, etc. The worst things she would do is tell them that they don't have to listen to us, or call the police to do welfare checks on the children.
The father was very jealous. He had little clout with the kids, but was able to sometimes manipulate them to serve his own agenda as well.

Due to the fact that men mature much more slowly then women his mental level is probably that of the 5 year old daughter. I would not be surprised to find that the 27 year old girl is going to discover that she has acquired another child to raise.

Its not often a passing thing with young, single guys because you're dating a woman who is already attached to someone (her kid) so you can't just mess her around. I think it takes a strong minded guy to take on a relationship like that. I don't know if i could do it (wouldnt say no to a lady with kids though).

That really depends on how he really feels about this lady. if he cares about her at all, it could work out. I know this guy that married a woman that has 3 kids, and none of them were his. He did not have any. so yes, if he really likes this woman, it could work. I hate to say this, but guys that are willing to step up and take on that responsibility are pretty good guys in my eyes.

i have a son , but im married w/ step kids...its hard, my situation though is that its still feel like 2 families living in 1 house... not a real family, but broken ...it might work but at the same time depends on him

to me i dont care if they have children or not what i look for is the womans personality. if she has children i would treat them as my own.
