just because you have an excuse for something doesn't mean you do it. if someone walked into my house right now with a gun i'd probably just tell him to leave or hide in the closet even though i am given the right by the law to shoot him.
i don't know who or what twisted your beliefs but there is no excuse for prejudism and you aren't using your apparent common sense.
christians are people. you're putting too much thought into what they believe and turning them into a different, stupider race of humans.

well i know that if you are a true christian ,you place a lot of value on life,on the people around you, on family, because that is where Gods values are as well..
i know some Christians do cop out with excuses but that doesn't make it right .but i don't think if we were all honest about our lives that anyone of us could say today i did no wrong .and it maybe a wrong as little as not taking the time to hug a child that needed hugged , or cutting a corner in a job ..or parking in a Handy cap zone because we will only be a couple min..but i do know as we walk a closer walk each day with a heavenly father our conscience grows stronger and convicts us of even the little sins we use to over look..but i can see where u come from when u say what you say because there are many people who claim to be christian ,but live like the devil himself..its a sad thing really because it drives people away from Christianity..i hope that your view towards Christians change , i hope someday that a true christian befriends you and lives the life they should as an example of true Christianity ..

Hmmm...
1. You have to do more than just say your're sorry. You need to truly repent of your sins and be baptized. Which means you will try your best not to do those things again.
2. Some Athiests don't believe murder is wrong.
3. How do you know if someone is Athiest on the street that says "Nobody is perfect".... do they wear a symbol on their jeans? on their hat? on their shirt or blouse?
4. You just didn't know they were Athiest.
5. Just like Christians... not all Athiests have common sense or sympathy for victims.
6. Part of the repentance process is to make restitution for your sins if you are able... which means replacing what you have stolen, fixing what you broke... etc.. to help the victims.
7. Hmmmm.. got me there... Athiests THINK that this life is it... but for me... it is like a snap of the fingers in time to what is in Heaven.
8. I think we place a great value on life, otherwise why do Christians send so much aid to places where people are starving? Why do Christians send aid to victims of Tornados, Hurricanes, Tsunamies?
9. Why don't they keep statistics on how much was given to aid victims by Athiests?... oh.. excuse me... they do... it was at the bottom of the list.

Actually, You couldnt be further from the truth, You believe, you just dont want to and are looking for reasons not to, why else would you call yourself a black athiest? and why else would you waste your time in a chat room yahoo answer site? If this is all there is and when you die you simply cease to exist, and time is so precious, then why waste your time trying to convince others of your ideology? it wont work and you will fail.
If God does not exist, then what is right and what is wrong? (taking that question all the way back to beginning of recorded human history) if it is decided by society, how? (also taking that question all the way back to the beginning of recorded human history) if it is a matter of opinion how? (again, taking this question all the way back to the beginning of human history).
If yoy say you cannot legislate morality, I say every law on the books are a legislation in morality, the only difference is, who's morality will you legislate?. There is a great deal of evidence to support the existance of God, only a fool says in his heart that there is no God, If you cannot look at all evidence with no Bias (and no it is possible to be un-bias, people use that as an excuse to justify being bias) then you will never know the truth you have to look at all evidence like a computer , with no emotiom and no bias, if you have one shred of Bias in you when examining the evidence, then you are wrong, I dont care what evidence you ahve to the contrary, or how much credibility the world assigns to it.

The Christianity you are comparing is not what Christ taught. You are using a false notion of what Christianity is or ought to be.
First we are not born into sin. Little children are innocent from birth. The notion of being born into sin because of Adam's transgression is a false doctrine. Infants have no sin and have no need for baptismal cleansing. That comes later when they can appreciate right from wrong.
Second, forgiveness comes only to those who truly repent of their sins. No repentance, no forgiveness. God loves us but He will not excuse our bad behavior when we choose to disobey him.
Third, our value of life has an eternal perspective, not just mortal. Therefore, life is precious now as well as after mortality. If our mortal lives are terminated for no fault of our own, it is not the end of our existence. We can and will still go on to further development including eventual resurrection. If we are at fault for ending someones life, then we will be held accountable for that action. Yes, there are some extenuating circumstances, such as war, where we are forced to take life. This is not condoned by God but it is understood and we are not held accountable when we are engaged in following orders to preserve our country and our freedom. The justness of the cause will be evaluated by God and the leaders of the country will be judged by whether the war was just or not. The soldiers are doing what they are required to do. If the soldiers act on their own to do unjustly, then they will be held accountable for that wicked choice as well.
The Christian's standard is very high and everyone will be held accountable for their choices, whether good or evil.

Who is doing the teaching when you say atheist are not taught? What standards do atheist have to go by? Do they perhaps read the Bible to know right from wrong?
I don't understand how people go through this sinful world with nothing more to look forward to. It just seems like an existance without hope to me. Do you really not believe that their is something somewhere greater than we are? I know that what I say here will probably not change your mind. Just as what you say here is not going to change my mind. I will pray for you and ones like you and hope that you come to understand the wonderful hope that a believer has in knowing that when life is over on this sinful earth that we will be taken to our true home with God for all eternity. I only wish that you could somehow change and be there too.
Jesus loves you.

murder is wrong, period? in all cases? Have you seen Shawshank Redemption? Remember Morgan Freeman's character, who foolishly murdered someone when he was young, then as an older man he realized he was wrong? So he'd be basically f*cked in your eyes huh...that's nice.
What's wrong with "nobody's perfect"? You are obviously not perfect, so therefore it is correct.
As a Christian, I don't have many victims that I've hurt because I have common sense...I don't hurt people because it is morally wrong...get it?
Number 7 is just sad, to bad for you.
I place alot of value on life, most Christians do. Number 8 is just an ignorant statement not worth commenting on.
Thanks.

Why should we put such an emphasis on life. Death is inevitable and noone can escape it. These are not excuses its what we as Christians believe, because our scripture tell us its true. Our God and yours, allows us through JC to be forgiven. Its not that we don't feel bad for the ones we hurt, we know that humans are not without sin. Whether its murder or lies, its still a sin, and thank God we can be forgiven. For you though my friend unless you have asked God to come into your life and you are obedient to your best, you my friend will not be forgiven and it will be too late when you are dead to ask for it. And you do sin. We all do.. Its great to be able to come to the Father in prayer as we are. He knows we are sinners, he is a merciful God. I give him Thanks.

All of your points are valid. I think all of those issues can be tied to the fact that when it comes down to it Christianity is a religion of FEAR. You really can't dispute that, they're born in sin, they must be God-FEARING people, repent your sins or suffer the wrath of hell and the bogeyman. You'd better believe like they do or you'll not be allowed into the kingdom of God. It's the reason I left Christianity a long time ago. I tired of the guilt trip.

not sure they have a lower standard but i think they apply those rules to themselves when they do something wrong and then point the finger at everyone else. you see, with jesus and the skydaddy to take the blame for everything they don't have to take responsibility for their actions.
