Enufwork ~ Thanks for the tip. I never even considered low fat. I just want to lower body fat percentage. My weight hasn't actually changed, but I've gotten quite a bit bigger around the middle, butt, and thighs.

What are you trying to accomplish? If you want to lose weight then low calorie. If you want to decrease your percentage of body fat, while maintaining or even gaining muscle mass then low fat.

The amount of energy (calories) you take in should be equal to the amount of energy (calories) you spend. Your weight should be stable then.
If you want to lose weight you have to use up more energy than you take in. That is why you should exercise a bit more and cut out junk food or high fat and high sugar foods.
Eat a balanced diet and exercise a bit, you will eventually lose weight. It's common sence. Low carbs diets are DANGEROUS! These diets (low carbs) are bad for your heart (to much fat and not enough fibers) for your kidneys (to much proteins not enough fibers) For your digestive system (not enough fibres).
Try whole grains they have as much calories as refined grains but they contain more fibers, they contain, more vitamins and other nutrients, you will eat less because you will feel full faster. Drink plenty of water. And do exercise not only will it help you lose a bit of weight, but it will make you feel better and more energetic.

actually I would suggest using a low sugar diet since its not really the carbs thats the problem

its the right carbs (complex) whole wheat, rice, grains, lentils.
lots of veggies, a moderate amount of fruit (remember sugar)
and lean meat

Look into books with diabetic diets.
With all of the processed food we eat you would be surprised how much sugar is in it.
Its great that a frozen yogurt has no fat but its still loaded with sugar.

check into it, you might find it works better than low carb or low calorie.

Remember to drink at LEAST 8-10 8oz water every day! :)

GOOD LUCK!

You need to eat foods that are packed with nutrition, and low in calories. You need to avoid foods that are not very nutritious, but high in calories. The best way to do this is to avoid: sugar, syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, corn, corn products, corn oil, potatoes, whtie rice, and all foods containing refined flour, including all supposedly "healthy" breads.

Read ingredient lables! If you have these foods in your house, haul them to a food bank!

Replace these with lean protein, a wide variety of vegetables, a wide variety of fresh fruit, skimmed milk and non-fat dairy products, whole grains such as oatmeal and brown rice (not "whole grain" bread, which contains refined wheat flour).

Jog for an hour a day.

Drink eight glasses of water a day.

Get eight hours of sleep a day.

If you suddenly go off the reservation, get immediately back on this plan. Don't beat up on yourself. This isn't a diet. It's a lifestyle.

Be a kid all over again! When eating out, order the child’s sandwich, pizza or cheese pizza. Then you can have the treats you're keen on, while reducing your portions and cutting your calorie intake.

Swap a bowl of pasta for the bowl of vegetables. You can spend less to 200 calories by chopping the starch and adding produce.
