Do you mean ferocious looking, or vicious?
I used to breed Rottweilers...they are not vicious (they do look ferocious though...friends and neighbors would not go into back yard with Barron, even with us back there. We would have to put him up)...they ARE very protective of their owners though...same with pit bulls...there are not any ferocious breeds (Fila Brasileiro are breed to be guard dogs).
A little Chihuahua can be ferocious (vicious). I have been bitten by more Chihuahuas than any other dog. Just because they are small does not mean that they can't do damage.
The most thought of "ferocious" breeds are(in no particular order)
Pit Bulls
Chow Chow
Rottweiler
German Shepherd Dog
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Belgian Malinois
Doberman Pinscher
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
Chinese Shar-Pei
Akita
Shiba Inu
Australian Cattle Dog
Non though of "ferocious" dogs:
Chihuahua
Cocker Spaniel
Dachshund
Miniature Pinscher
Miniature Schnauzer
Pekingese
Pomeranian
Shih Tzu
Toy Fox Terrier
Yorkshire Terrier
I have been bitten by all of these "non-vicious" little dogs.
Never by the "vicious" ones!
If you are looking for a ferocious dog, you don't need a dog...if you love a particular breed, and it is not a "status symbol" then get your dog.
I saw my first Rottweiler when I was 9 yrs old...such a majestic breed. I knew it was the breed for me...they are very gentle for there size.
With any dog, you have to take responsibility, expecially with a "powerful" breed like pits, rotts and Shepherds.

I am not an expert but I have been around a lot of different breeds hunting in the Midwest with other people and on a lot of farms. the meanest or most ferocious dogs I have ever seen are Russian wolfhounds, I knew a farmer that raised them and he had the male chained up far from the farm house the dog just wanted to tear everything apart, the farmer would joke that this fella only tolerated him because he fed him but I didn't see the humor. a very nasty breed.

Many breeds have the ability to fit this description. It would be impossible to say fro sure which is the most ferociuos as it would depend on the individual dogs tempermant.
I have met Poodles I would not touch and Pitt bulls that tried to lick me to death.
I have had one bite in my career as a trainer and it was by a minature or "toy" poodle.
I normally work with behavorial probelms which translates to large assertive aggressive dogs.
I base my opinions on what I see the individual dog do and how it acts and no so much as to the breed.

I believe that it is all in how the dog is trained! I have a pit bull who is very sweet. She is very gentle , her best friend is a chiwawa and they get along great!I had a friend who had a 1 year old little girl and was a bit worried about how Bella would react to her and she loved her she walked carefully around her as not to knock her over and she who gently lick her on her face it was impressive and I am very proud of the animal that I have raised.
I have met all kinds of breeds, I love dogs, if you treat them and train them in a gentle way they will be great dogs! I have met small dogs who are mean little ankle biters that you don't want to get near. If you want a great dog that gets along with everyone and everything them introduce it to everyone , all kinds of other dogs and it will be a wonderful dog to have as a family member. and will be loyal to the bone !!

Any style of canines will be ferocious yet that throughout straightforward words relies upon on how the vendors manage it and prepare it. I once met a police guy with a preserve canines and he stated "Dont believe a canines 100%"

Pits bull, this breed is banned in US, though there are contradictory opinions about this. But veterinarians still believe that if they bite, to make their jaws remove the teeth from human one has to cut the skull of the dog to make sure of the withdrawal

Dogs are not born ferocious, or mean. People make them that way. A couple of breeds that stupid people fear are Rottweilers, Shepard's, pit bulls, dobermans. and most of your large breed dogs.

there really isnt one - although some dogs have more power other dogs are more likely to bite..
eg a spoilt yorkie is more likely to bite than a well socialized pit bull, but the pit is stronger
chows are very dangerous but so are poodles.. any dog is a risky dog especially if not socialized

Fila Brasileiro. AKC judges don't touch when evaluating. I'm not saying it's most ferocious, but it's up there.
