We need a lot more examples then that. Besides, euthanasia is used on creatures that most religious people don't believe have souls therefore it is a non-issue in the topic of scientists trying to play god.
But, just as there are religious people who believe that they are the messengers of God, when they certainly are not, there are scientists who believe that they are above earths laws, when they certainly are not. And just as there are many more religious people who are moral and kind and generous and godly, there are many more scientists who are just trying to figure out, in a way understandable to them what happened, and what is going on.
It's all a matter of perspective, and anyone who demeans another person based on their beliefs needs to look inside themselves because that is where the fault starts.

Why do creationists try to play scientist? And what is your source for asserting that the scientific method is being used to decide euthanasia? Do you even know what the scientific method is? Euthanasia is an ethical consideration wherein the arguement is whether or not an individual should be able to choose death if their life is simply so filled with pain or debility that life isn't worth living versus the cutoff point to prevent abuses of it - such as by emotional manipulation or institutionalized abuse.
Scientific method would only be used in studies to determine the safest and most humane way of doing it, not in proving the ethical assertions one way or another.
Personally, if I ever reach the point where I can't do anything and can't enjoy any aspect of life and I do choose euthanasia, anyone standing in my way is cordially invited to join me!

I'd like to see your reference on how the scientific method has been used to decide the euthanasia issue. From what I can see euthanasia is being discussed more in the areas of law, human rights, ethics, philosophy, and religion.
I await your update to this question with actual references.
P.S. I saw just saw the comment you posted about my answer, about me wanting you to be peer reviewed? Aside from the fact that having your question reviewed by others is presumably the whole idea of answers.yahoo.com, I'm just asking that if you know of some news articles or links that show how science has used the scientific method to decide the issue of euthanasia, I would be interested in reading it. Like I said, I hadn't heard that one before, and am interested to see some data there.

Nobody "worships" science. Scientists use the scientific method for designing experiments, an idea seperate from the concept of morality. Scientists can make machines to breath for you, but they can't tell you to pull the plug on them. Scientists invented the machines that some get hooked up to when they die, but they don't control all the decisions others make about the devices. The decisions involving morality are made by a patient's family, not the guy who designed what's saving the patient's life.

100% bogus question.
But here's an answer. 1)science has NOTHING to do with the argument over euthanasia so you are busted right there..that is all religious and cultural.
2) you are screaming about God over internet which requires a computer...You are using 2 scientific creations to denounce science...very very tacky and lame..if you don't like science then you need to give up your computer, car, blender, refrigerator, oven, AC, heater, lawnmower, razor, toothbrush, all medicines that require processing, bank account, telephone, TV, radio, etc. Bet you will never give these up..keep yelling about science while you still suck up every drop you can.
3)Science relies on proof, reason, logic, and intelligence. Religion relies on faith..that is all and religion is threatened by and hates intelligence, decency, reason and real proof.
4) Science, by wanting to find the answers to creation they are embracing creation and revering God by showing they love and glorify creation by wanting to know more about it and embracing the gifts God gave of intelligence. Those that refute science spit in God's face by turning their back on the wonder of the creation, ignoring the world, and throwing the gift of intelligence back in the creator's face.
5)I suppose science could do things the religious way by killing a cow and burning it, making stuff up as they go along, killing anyone who opposes them...but science prefers to be ethical, decent and moral. Science, unlike religion, has the courage and integrity to stand up and point out how it could be wrong and will try to prove itself wrong to end up with the truth whatever it may be.

God has given humans the gift of intelligence, and in using that intelligence, we have the ability to relieve terminal suffering. I don't think that qualifies as playing God.
Those who judge others are playing God more so than the scientists who try to better mankind.

Because different people are members of different religions. How can thye possible base their decision on xianity, if I'm a buddhist or atheist or muslim or B'hai?
And we don't consder it playing god deciding how people can die with dignity. Is it playing god when we execute someone? Is it playing god when we go to war and blow people up? How about collateral damage? Is it playing god when we tell someone in severe pain from a terminal illness that it's okay if they don't want to continue the struggle?

There are scientists who close their eyes before spiritual matters; but there are also respectful scientists who realize their narrow knowledge, they approach the Manifestation of God to seek divine guidance and become brilliant disciples like Saint Paul.

Science 'worshipers'. I don't believe I've ever seen any of those.
If you are talking about Dr. Kevorkian people went to him he did not go to people and say let me put them out of their misery.
Why do theologians try to insist on using speculation in place of science?

Scientists "play" god better than god does. You obviously never worked in an intensive care unit and saw patients and families suffer.
If I am suffering I would want to go peacefully.
