My cat feels like he has a fever ( his stomach is so hot ) . He has been gone for about a week, now i have locked him in the house. Could it be a side effect of tom catting? I noticed some little worms coming out of him, so i gave him some worm medicine. He also acts very lethargic and doesnt eat very good. I dont have the money to take him to the vet , what should I do?

And yes I do care about my cat !!!
But he has done this before it is usually a result from being outside in the heat and him fighting with other tom cats, and he is going to be neutered in a month, I have already made the appointment to have all my critters fixed.

Little one, don't spend too much time worrying about what other people think, just try and do the best you can.

Get him to the vet as soon as you can. KEEP HIM IN THE HOUSE. you said you had given him worm medicine, wait for it to work. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water and food available. I have some kitties with hot stomachs, and some with hot ears, and some are just warm all over, like people.

The lethargy could be from the worms or from the worm medicine. He could have a wound from a fight, check him all over and if you find one keep it clean, soap and water, until you get him neutered. If it gets worse, then do what you can to get him to the vet sooner. DO NOT give him any medicine that has not been recommended by your vet, no people medicine like aspirin, NEVER aspirin.

Good luck

If your care about your cat then you would not allow him outside roaming free. Tom catting then hes not even neutered? Hes sick and he needs a vet today not another day. if you can be online and pay for a computerand internet. They you can take the cat to the vets if you where inclined to. How long would you wait to take yourself to a doc if you where sick? A fever is a sign of a illness in a cat.Probably he was bitten while TOM CATTING and has a abccess.!!!!Get him neutered also.
You don't just give a cat worm medicine with out knowing what type of worms he has. And you never use OTC worm meds not effective..If your seeing worms rice like pieces around his butt. Its tape worm segments. Fleas and eating mice ,rodents cause this type of worms. And a specific med is given to kill them.

It could be an infection or an abscess from a fight or he got into something poisonous. You need to take him to the vet and find out what is wrong with him. If that was you or someone that you loved, would you let them go in pain. If you don't love your cat, then maybe you shouldn't have him. Take him to the pound and give him up. If he is sick, then they will at least put him down, which is far more humane than what you are doing to him. Also, if he has worms coming out of him, think about what they are doing on the inside. God, why do people have to be so ignorant when it comes to the obvious. He's sick and you don't care...

Several things can cause fever in a cat: Getting sick, or infection setting into an injury are two of them. Also, does he have infected tick bites? One little critter I know got very sick from that.

If you don't have the money, call the vet and explain your situation. Most will try to work with you.

Good luck!

I would take him to the vet immediately. He sounds like he has some type of infection. Please go to your vet for an appointment as soon as possible. You should get him fixed also, so you don't have to worry about him going out "tom catting." Best of luck to you.

if he has worms and you gave him some worm medicine you should be aware that there are different kinds of worms and the mediciatins you can buy usually only kill one kind (you would have seen dead worms in his poop if it worked)

there are lots of sickness he could have - if you can afford a computer and the internet you can afford a trip for your cat to see a vet - failure to do so can have you charged with neglect.

Has he had all of his shots and is he up to date? It's too big a chance to take to wait and see, if he has a virus like feline leukemia, panleukopenia, cat flu, feline AIDS etc (some there are no vaccines for), many of them are fatal and will kill him within a few days. If he's not eating properly, he's at risk of hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver syndrome) which will also kill him.

Take him to the SPCA or your local shelter, they will treat him for you free. If getting him there is a problem, ring them, they will pick him up for you and bring him back.

You are risking him dying if you wait.

PLEASE DO NOT WAIT YOUR CAT CAN DIE

ALSO THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE WORSE IT CAN GET WHICH MEANS TO HIGHER IT WILL COST TO TREAT.

I waited once, nearly lost my cat. She ended up spiking at 105 degrees and I have to give fluids 3 times a day. If her kidneys shut down I would have lost her.

Plus your cat is not feeling good, she hurts...
