Sorry to see so many people answer questions that don't have a clue about what they are talking about. If you mean GRADUATED COMPRESSION PANTYHOSE then yes they are very different and will improve circulation and prevent leg swelling and worse problems. (Also considered preventive for forming varicose veins).
Wearing these is just plain smart. Athletes are learning they have more energy for a longer time due to improved circulation. They will definitely improve circulation! There is a lot to read on this subject but the hypothesis has been well tested... Graduated Compression Pantyhose will help men and women equally. Fortunately pantyhose is rapidly becoming unisex so it isn't so much of a problem for the guys anymore. Just ask Kobe Bryant and million others. Pantyhose manufacturers are banking on cracking the men's market and we aren't talking about the minority gay market!

Use your search engine and look up "benefits of compression pantyhose" and you to will be a believer and consider those that don't uninformed.

Also it is not necessary to wear Medical Compression pantyhose unless you have a big problem. Most of the pantyhose made for women that say "graduated Compression" on the package will work fine for men if you can find a size that is in your height and weigh range. I recommend getting some that are near 30% Lycra for a fit and feel that is super comfortable and they will usually fit well outside the range on the package. Experiment with different brands because they are all cut differently (some better than others). You will feel much more "Energized" at the end of a long haul (like the ads say)!

are you looking for something to cut down on swelling in your lower limbs while driving for long periods of time?

You might try compression hosiery...but I think you'd want to ask your doctor about this.

I'm sure it's hard to do this if you're on a deadline, but frequent walking breaks will keep the circulation going.
