i don't find it strange at all that atheists find it hard to believe in god
it took me many years and lots of personal evidence before i did and have only just recently been able to call myself a believer
one should always have sufficient proof of a god
i would never tell anyone to look around them for proof of god , as the world can be explained in so many ways .. but as a believer i do see the world more magnificently than before
to each his own and without proof .. i still would not be believing

Some people find of the idea of believing in a god ridiculous, the way you might find the Acient Romans believing in many gods ridiculous. The way I see it, those who believe in god, any of the brand name gods, believe that there is a supreme being who tends to the people on Earth, giving them life and sunsets and all that is good, while allowing all that is bad, because his will cannot be understood. When good things happen, that's proof of god. When bad things happen, that's proof that he works in mysterious ways.
I find it difficult to accept that some force lives in the sky and enters my heart, my head, or whatever part of my body that religious kooks like to use as an entry point. Everything this god does must be taken on faith, as he refuses to make himself known - and please, spare me the "HE DOES MAKE HIMSELF KNOWN TO ME EVERYDAY" - nonsense. All of you know that is just stupid. Why do people insist that there is a god? Is it because you feel entitled to some type of heaven when you die? Things here don't go your way, so you have a need for some paradise where you'll get yours?
If believing in god gets you through your day, more power to you. But Holy Wars, which have existed since the dawn of man, make the idea of god a terrible thing to me. If you make a drawing on one man's god, he'll kill you. If you slander another man's god, he'll kill you. And the Christians (of which I was a part) have a pretty serious history with how they dealt with non-believes in their loving god.
When you say look around you, how can you deny that it all comes from God, what are you saying? Terrorism? That one does come from god. The glorious colors of Fall? That comes from nature. There doesn't have to be god. There doesn't have to be faith. And, clearly, there doesn't have to be any type of reason for the human race to exist.
How do you feel about those that believe that Adam and Eve were actual people, who are everyone's mother and father? That Noah took two of ever animal on his ark? That the earth is 2,500 years old? Those that believe in ever absolutely ridiculous concept imaginable if they read it in the bible? I think that these people are pretty ignorant (as in uneducated and easily misled). But they live their own lives and make their own choices, and as long as they don't try to blow up the plane I'm on, more power to them. I do wish they'd stop pushing their religious insanity on me, though. It's more than a little annoying...

yes look around u....what do u see...u can say or do anything u please...no 2 ppl think the same...is why there are many religions ...if u insist on putting a label on an inity u have never seen ..do so ....if u want to say a god done this...do so.....every man and woman has to be accountable for their actions regardless whom they are ....if in pretense u do not believe in a higher power u still have to be accountable for ur own actions ....is the way of humanity...do not pay attention to those who cannot explain themselves ...or answer a question with a question ...that is the third part of hunanity.....the third part is total insanity...this is the part that starts all wars and creates problems ...is like a brain washing effect...ur question is plyable but not totally answerable in generlizing u can do or anything u feel that makes u feel better weather 2 ppl agreee or not

I listened to a radio interview the other day; the interviewee was a lawyer who did some pro bono work for some of the "illegal combatants" being held at Guantanamo. He was also a true Southern gentleman -- complete with the accent and the courtly manners -- who mentioned that his childhood in North Carolina didn't prepare him for his college years in New England, where he was surprised to learn that people can live rather well, thank you, without religion permeating everything they do and say.
I think many believers -- at least in the U.S. -- can go for years at a time without ever meeting someone who attends a different church. So it never occurs to them that any other way of life is possible.

I don't know.
A lot of people think that there's no difference between boys and girls...it's pretty obvious that there is.
Some people think that GWB doesn't have the intelligence even of a first grader. Again, it's obvious that he does or else, amongst other things, Yale University wouldn't have accepted him.
I smoke...even though it's obvious that it's bad for me.
Some people simply ignore the obvious.

I believe in your God. We are of the same religion. :-)
I think humans have too much brain capacity and they use it to entertain themselves by arguing over meaningless topics. Maybe it's the way we keep our brains from rusting.
When I was a kid, people used to argue over which was better, Fords or Chevies (Japanese cars hadn't arrived). And those debates were the same as political or religious debates. Never ending and generally pointless.
Good question, but humans will never agree on anything unless they face a common threat to their survival.

Of course I wonder. I do that a lot. All I can say is that no matter what life gives me I have found my faith holds, and trust me there have been many things that I have made it through. I will wonder about this probably until the day I die.But live and let live.

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee." Psalm 84:11-12 Maybe they should read the Bible more often.

Jesus told them, "Don't let anyone mislead you. For many will come in my name, saying, `I am the Messiah.' They will lead many astray. And wars will break out near and far, but don't panic. Yes, these things must come, but the end won't follow immediately. The nations and kingdoms will proclaim war against each other, and there will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this will be only the beginning of the horrors to come. Many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will lead many people astray. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But those who endure to the end will be saved.

I don't believe in YOUR GOD per say. Though I do acknowledge that there exist some higher form. It isn't right for me to say that YOUR GOD is the correct one.
