Ilovemydog, jen and dextrodex, answer the question you pricks. This is an open question; not an opportunity for you to slag me off!!! By the way, I'm talking about the UK and if you had read the tabloids over the last 3 years, you perhaps would have a little more understanding of the situation over here.

I completely agree with you. We have enough immigrants in our country as it is without needing more.
I'm not against immigrants, but Britain as a whole is too overpopulated as it is without having more.
I understand that some people are persicuted in their native country, and agree they need help, but I think our government should say that we've done our bit, now let other countries help.
Britain though is where they all come to cuz life her is easy. If we made it harder they wouldn't want to come here in the first place

Look at it this way: why should London accept all of these people from other UK towns and cities? If you were from somewhere were there was no work, or wanted to make it in an industry that was mainly located in the capital, wouldn't you want to move there? But what if they wouldn't have you? How would you feel?

But your being in London would make it just that little bit more vibrant, especially if you brought something new to it (opened a shop selling your regional speciality for example). Not many people living in London were born there but it is still distinctly London. You wouldn't mistake it for New York, or Paris or Beijing.

Now pan out and put that in a global context. We would still be uniquely British no matter what cultures and nationalities our population comprised. And that makes us better. Otherwise we would just be a nation of grey old moaners.

Countries that don't accept immigrants are missing out just as towns and villages that are populated only by people who have never lived anywhere else eventually die out.

There are reasons both pro and con. In Canada, one problem is that they haven't sufficient population to make the country more productive, but most immigrants flock to cities where they are not needed. In the US, we don't need more immigrants in large numbers as it boggles down welfare, health care costs, etc. Our immigration policy is illogical as we welcome people from some nations that contribute nothing...and then deny others that would be of great use to the nation. The illegals we supposedly have now should be deport without exception. But don't you think that Homeland Security, the Border Patrol and the FBI haven't been doing their jobs....if Pablo Peasant can come in, so could a terrorist....and with all the drugs smuggled across the border with impunity...why not a bomb or two?

Yes, the USA should ban immigration from the UK. I'm sick to death of you nicking all our best doctors and scientists. The UK should stop taking highly skilled medical staff from poor countries that need them more than us. There should be a super global tax on air travel to stop people moving around and being a bloody nuisance. Only gorgeous babes under the age of 30 should be allowed to enter the United Kingdom! The only people allowed to emigrate to the UK should have a paper signed by me personally and pay me a fee of £5000 - that would solve most of the problems......

people seem to think that the illegal aliens are all coming from the borders but they're not. they come from all over the world. how would you feel if you lived elsewhere and knew of a place like america? wouldn't you want to save your children from poverty? it is so easy for americans to turn people away but imagine if you lived in a house with dirt walls and no roof and starving children. the people who come to this country illegally have to struggle for everything they've got. a select few of them are disrespectful and dangerous or ignorant but what about those who just want a better life for their family? what about those who pick strawberries or cabbage in a field all day and get paid nearly nothing? they move into a tiny one room apartment and they are so grateful. i love america because it is the land of opportunity. the statue of liberty reads "give us your tired hungry and poor". any person who cannot understand and sympathize with a person fighting poverty is heartless.

Because this is the land of milk and honey, a land that was built by immigrants of all nations. And because we are a nation that helps. Whats wrong with someone wanting to come in here and better themselves. If you were not an American wouldn't you want the same for you and your family??

Because we are a kind and understanding lot. Also we must be able to afford it or we would not let all these people in to abuse our system.Sadly its human nature to take advantage of the weak.Uk is seen as weak.Fraud is high and the African people are very good at it costing us millions.Hackney council lost a lot of money due to these nice honest people who worked within the council. But it was open to abuse.Like our system!

We don't have to ... We could instead pay $18 for a pound of apples.

Why wait, start today .... when you go to the grocery and your tab adds up to $100; go ahead and give the checker $300 and ask them to put the extra toward eliminating illegal immigration. You'll need to get used to those higher prices anyway.

Sorry to say, but our fellow Americans are lazy ... they wont do some of the most important lowest paying jobs that we need ... The immigrants work circles around the Americans. We have become a very spoiled society in our country.

Get your blinkers off.go and look at your history.a hundred years ago the british coloniazed almost the whole planet and the british married and settled there.in the sixties they started giving the colonies back and of course alot of people got british passports etc.now they live here and the british are saying we dont want them.the history of that time now reflects on society.what í find most amazing is that it is all the social benefits lazy asses that also say"they are here to pinch our money, houses and women" excactely what the british did a hundred years ago.so the wheel turns all the time.

The answer is - WE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THEM.

We do not need to import a lower class. We have enough poor already in this country, and we need to address their needs. Not the needs of some law breakers (as in ILLEGAL aliens).

If you want to immigrate here - get an education and learn a profession so when you get here you can be a contributing member of society instead of a useless, resource wasting slug. If you contribute - I welcome you!
