Well there is no Jetta all wheel drive car. The Subarus are expensive on service. I would actually go for the Pontiac Vibe All Wheel drive model.
The Vibe and the Matrix are the same exact car, the Pontiac version is a bit nicer and the interior is a little better looking. Happy Motoring !

The Matrix or Pontiac Vibe, both are the same car. The Jetta and Subaru are high maintenance and expensive to service. Toyota makes a much better vehicle than any out there.

Jettas are nice, but do they still require premium gasoline? I considered one a few years back and I did not get it because of that requirement. If you don't drive much, it may not matter. I love Subarus. The old Legacy was terrific during the test drive. It is so quiet inside the cabin when you are driving. You feel like you are in your own little world. I have no knowledge about the Toyota Matrix, but I love my Toyota Sienna. Reliable, fun to drive, comfortable on long trips, not bad on gas mileage, easy to maintain. It's not "fancy", but it is dependable, comfortable and great for my needs. Good Luck!

Remember Matrix is the same as the GT Vibe Pontiac not bad and is bigger inside, Jetta has a vunerable aluminum oil pan get a skid plate, You can't go wrong with Subaru the WRX is harsh riding car. the Mitsubushi Lancer EVO is 4wheel drive "wow!" better seats and handles like it is on rails. I'm talking of top of the line models Buy as much car as you can you'll be happier.

I'd go for the Jetta. It's cute and I love the way VW's drive. I drive one of the new convertible bugs but practiced on my Mom's Touareg before getting my license and drove my Grandpa's Passat before he traded it in for a Touareg and have test driven a Jetta and I really like the way they drive. I've never driven a subaru but have ridden a Toyota Matrix and it didn't feel like as smooth of a ride. That's just my opinion though. You should go test drive all of them and see which one you like driving best. Good Luck! Hope you find one you like :)

I have a jetta. Its a wonderful car. Its comfortable for 4 people but not too big. The cup holders are not convenient they are in a weird place. They pop holes in some cups as well. Other than that one thing i love the car. It saves so much on gas. It might be a 4 cyl but it can go. I actually think it might be a little faster than my 6cyl mustang was. That might be because i have to shift gears in this car though. I think that's the best choice. I don't really like the other cars.
It does not require premium gas either. I use regular.
Hope this helps

According to J.D. Powers dependability report (just released)
only Toyota was rated above the industry average. The company was rated 5th place.
Subaru and VW both rated BELOW the industry average.
This was a study of problems with vehicles on the road for 3 years !
Of these 3 VW was rated the WORST.

toyota. Subarus are good but when things go wrong, they're really expensive to fix and you can only get genuine parts..., with toyota, you can buy aftermarket.

#2. Buy a 4WD, not a AWD. with an AWD car, all four tires HAVE to be the same diameter, or drivetrain damage can occur.
For instance, if the tires are half worn and you replace one due to damage or blowout, it's diameter is larger than the others. therefore, you should replace all four, or find one that is half worn like the others.
