They may have tried to sell them at one time, only to have no buyers. That may or may not be the case. May want to drop an email to Wal-Mart and Target and suggest to them to start carrying wooden frames. If they see there's a demand, they will start selling.

Wood picture frames are expensive. Wal-Mart and Target sell to a different target market.
I've been shopping for a frame for a poster I bought at WebShots. I was amazed at the cost of wood frames and finally asked a woman who owned an art supply store that featured wood frames. One of the ones I liked was $8 a foot.
Our middle-American discount stores aren't going to carry that quick loss item. That's not what they are about.

I just bought about 12 wooden frames at Target for a very reasonable price. Check out a different Target.

Well, there are several Wal-Marts in my area and they all carry wooden frames. I have proof of that all over my house, as a matter of fact, because 90% of the pictures on my walls are in wooden frames purchased at Wally-World...a few of which were purchased within the last few months.

I've bought wood picture frames at Walmart and Target. If you can't find them there, do you have a Michaels craft store? They usually have wood picture frames and sometimes have good sales or sometimes Big Lots has some. Also, I found some really inexpensive wood frames at Hobby Lobby but I don't know if Hobby Lobby is just a store in our area or a chain.

The joints on wooden picture frames are fragile and don't do well when shipped and meved around. Major department stores sell items that are mass produced and will have few returned back to them because of damage.

Because plastic is fantastic. When was the last time you saw sawdust being use for implants!
Wal-Mat DOES sell some wood frames. They even sell SOME with glass instead of plastic coverings! You just gotta look and look beyond the $2 frames!

I have found a few atTarget, I don't shop at WalMart too much, and haven't looked there. You may want to check online, I just looked really quickly, and found the one below, but I'm sure there are more. A lot of times the online store has more items to pick from. Good luck finding what you're looking for!
