Do you sit in your seat quietly or tackle the guy?

It probably depends on the number of hijackers involved in the operation and if they brandish guns. If they do not seem to be carrying any guns then you would want to formulate a plan with your surrounding passengers quietly. Don't let them catch you talking and don't try to talk to them. They will probably shoot you or it will make the situation worse.

You should follow what is known as the kill chain - Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess.

Find the total number of people involved and any objects, weapons, materials that they are in their possession.

Fix on their locations, movements, and activities.

Track their locations and activities.

Target the area. Look for places that you could attack them - maybe the back lavatory where it will be quieter or the front lavatory where there is more room. Formulate a plan.

Engage in the hostels. Tackle them; throw your drink in their face and knock them out; trip them and stomp on their head...etc., depending on the situation.

Assess the remaining situation. Have all hostels been accounted for? Can the pilot safely resume the flight.

Follow these steps. Otherwise, what is the point of letting them take control of your life? A hijacking will hardly ever have a happy ending.

You want to be the one to live to tell the story.

The days of sitting quietly by while hijackers made their demands ended with 9/11. If you sit still, you will be incinerated when the plane hits land or buildings now. You have to tackle the hijacker or hijackers and the sooner, the better.

By all means, resist...tackle, hit him. Your chances of a calm ending are almost zero. You have one chance, and that is to defeat the hijacker.

You attack!!! Odds are they are not just gonna land the plane safely. So if you and others attack I would think you have a much better chance of survival.

I would call from my cell phone so that somebody can document what's being said and going on... then attempt to fight the highjackers (and i would hope others would, too... more chances of winning)
