I've an old habit of breaking up the contents and pushing them toward the middle of the bag before cooking. Does this actually improve the cooking or not? I'm not claiming it does, but it sometimes seems like it.

Do you do the same, and what's the science to support or debunk the effectiveness of it.

I do the opposite. I break up the popcorn and spread them out in the bag so that they are not all in one big glob. Shorten the time suggested --like as SOON as they stop popping take out..and it is perfect every time.

I don't do that. I just throw it in the microwave. I don't use the popcorn cycle though. I microwave it for 2 minutes and the popcorn comes out perfect.

I do the same thing. However, the popcorn is stuck in a glob of butter which will melt at low temperature. So it really doesn't do anything. But I still do it.

All I have ever done is take off the plastic, and pop it into
the microwave.

It has always turned out perfect. I never had any problem.
