There is a great place on Shaftsebury avenue. I can not remember the name but it is on the south side of the street (red, modern looking sign). It is about 1 street west of charing cross road.
Ok I went and found the name it is called the chinese experience. it is quite modern looking. For a while they were having 1/2 price lunches (weekdays only). I'm not sure it is still on. In any case, really high quality and yummy.
Another good one (not in soho) is the dim sum at bayswater station - Royal china - i think.

I would definitely recommend going to New World-it's on the edge on China Town next to the Fire Station on Shaftesbury Avenue. There is always a big queue because its very popular. If you want to go for Dim Sum that is trully outstanding (although not sure about 30 people on a table) then go to yuautcha- its amaxing!!

Golden Dragon-good food, nice environment-personal favorite.
If you are not to familiar with dim sum then New World is good as they puch the food around the trolleys so you can see what you like.
China Expereince-food is good (not brill) but it does have a 50% off sale for Dim Sum.
Hope this helps-making me hungary now!!!

I recommend the Imperial China , on Lisle Street.
It's a bit hard to find, just small doorway, with the restaurant then lying behind the main street. Great dim sum though, don't think you can get better in china town.
You can find their website here:

more importantly---do you have cool dining partners?? Lol. My friend (Urban) recommends: Joy king lau (good prices) or Jade Garden (good food)--though I vote for carts for sure!
