I have lived in Melbourne my whole life, and recently I have come to the realisation of how boring it can be. There is hardly any night life, we don't have our own unique national food(except for kangaroo, which no-one really eats), not many landmarks etc. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same.

I live in Melbourne and I all I can say is I am never bored. I think you need to look within. Boredom is produced primarily by wanting to do something to occupy your self but not knowing how to do that.
Many folks move to try to solve that problem but if you get bored ion the second biggest city in Oz then maybe you need to get out of the city. Go to a country pub and meet the locals.
It's hard to socialise and be bored at the same time and country folks and smaller towns do tend to be kinder to strangers. Alternatively join a club of some sort. There's no need to be bored you duffer! You just need to plan your day.
Goodluck :)

I have lived in Australia for twenty years. I think it's boring here because there's no firmly established middle class driving the agenda. A few people are very well off, most are still paying off the mortgage. If you do finish the mortgage there's no quality of life anyway.
The country has an unhealthy reverence for war veterans (most of whom died following tactically poor orders) and rugby players; mostly aging or poorly planned infrastructure; failing education and health systems; a culture that endorses complacency, corruption, and mismanagement; and the proud tradition of "larrikinism" is usually nothing more than mindless anti-social hooliganism.
The people have a lot of "front" (chutzpah, cahones) and are quick witted but tend to win arguments by force of personality
rather than by reasoning.
As for sportsmanship and the proud tradition of a fair go, Australians are just as, if not more likely than anyone else to try to win by playing the man not the ball.
Yes, it's boring here. A country where rowdy children are deemed to have more personality than quiet children, but if they're too rowdy they're drugged into submission not taught self control. A country where the national pastime is cutting other people down to size, a practice which tends to hide problems and reward dull obedience. A country with a weak cultural identity, being taken over by migrants who hold the belief that Australians are buffoons to be taken advantage of, despised, and displaced.
A country struggling to survive, lot alone prosper.
If you think I'm too harsh, you could ask yourself why it is that Australia has the highest rate of teen suicide in the world. Why are Australians amongst the worst emitters of carbon dioxide in the world?
I could be wrong, but I think the answer is to bring in more skilled migrants, people who have strong values that don't include horse-racing, beer, and rugby. Because you're dull, Australia.

Are you guys serious?!? We live in the most bountiful country in the world and you're bored?!?!?!??

Dunno about you lot but in Queensland - I regularly fish, swim, snorkel, surf, camp, play sport, go to the gym, movies, out for dinner, hit some bars and clubs if I'm in the mood, go bushwalking, go for a drive, go shopping, work full time, study part time.......never boring, life is for the living!

Maybe we have an advantage coz of the weather. I do love Melbourne though - whatever Queensland lacks, you guys have it down there.

I even ought to disagree strongly. Australia has lots of historic past besides the shown actuality that it truly is fairly youthful, i don't believe of they're attempting to 'leave' any of the historic past in the back of. All besides the undeniable fact that that's not the conventional way of settling it truly is definitely unique to australia. the country area isn't dull and barren, no longer all elements of the country are desolate tract, queensland has tropical rainforest melbourne has alot of eco-friendly nation-state as well. there are 1000's of issues to do once you recognize the position to look I actually have lived in Australia for 5 years and nonetheless discover new and thrilling activities, I actually were on holiday interior australia about 4 situations at the same time as in straightforward words going overseas places once. cities are cities and could be similar everywhere contained in the international in case you favor to come back and adventure the actual australia you want to get off the beaten song and actual plan your holiday.

I'm aussie born and bred and yes it can be boring,
I live in Launceston, but have decided to go home to Hobart at the beggining of next year as I cant find any work here.
The central highlands and parts of the west coast of this state are awesome though, same with top of Mt Wellington and Table Cape....

but stay away from Queenstown whatever you do, its the ugliest town in this state and the gravel pit is simply nasty-footy ground.
