The primary principle is summed up quite eloquently in the Preamble:

We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

More specifically, religion and government is summed up in the Bill of Rights, Ammendment 1:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

Liberty and equality when it was written, greed and power now.

As for religion, the USA was founded on a belief in God and freedom of religion for everyone. Today there is no true religious freedom unless you believe in what those in power believe.

Freedom and equality to everyone. The right to be treated as a human being along everyone else.
