Ticks don't care about taste as much as fleas do. They have to be removed by hand - every last one of them. Garlic is not bad for dogs -- some even like it -- but it won't make the ticks drop off.

Garlic is too make the coat fuller and shinier. Garlic will not get rid of fleas or ticks. You will need shampoo or meds for that. Too much garlic isn't good for you dog. I think its better to buy the pills because some dogs don't even like the smell of garlic.

Leo, who responded to another similar question, answered that she uses rubbing alchohol, which forces the tick to detach "so it can breathe." I've heard of this and used rubbing alcohol and aftershave. Apply with cue tip or cloth dampened in the alcohol.

I suppose you can mix a little garlic in with their food. Will they eat it? Let us know.

Below is more than you've ever wanted to know about dog ticks.

Take a pair of tweezers, some rubbing alcohol, and a burning cigarrette. pour a little rubbing alcohol on the tick, and then take the burning cigarrette and place it close enough to the tick that it is touching it, but don't put it so close as to burn your dog's fur. These two things really bother ticks, and it will release its hold. As soon as you take the cigarrette off, use the tweezers to pull the tick from your dog.

Ok my dog used to get ticks too. they are harmless to ur baby if u get them out properly. put on some gloves and and get some tweezers grab the tick by the neck or just the closest part to ur dogs skin and twist counter clock wise. it will take a little while but dont pull! the head can come off and it will put viruses and diseases into ur dog! dont worry if u already pulled one off it rarely causes diseases. after you remove the ticks flush em down the toilet!!!!! dont try to squish them cuz usually they dont die....... you should get ur puppy some tick medicine! oh snd dont worry ur dog isnt in pain he probably doesnt even know they are there! hope this helps!

neddle nose pliers, gloves, and a little time on your hands! You can pick a tick, but be sure you don't pick a tick that will stick to your click. Nothing works on keeping ticks off dogs. Don't buy the colars, they don't work. Unless you have a pet that stays inside and never goes out, you are going to have ticks. I have owned dogs all my life, and every one had them, no matter what I did to avoid them.

Don't give your poor dog garlic. Geez. Go to the store and get some tick stuff for dogs. Then give your poor dog to a loving family.

Do not give garlic or onion to pets, it's toxic and causes anaemia. Take your dog to the vet to have it removed and get some advantix or frontline plus to prevent them whilst you are there.
