The poor Iranians today suffering under radical Mullahs,
creation of Hezbollah, etc. stem from Eisenhower politics.
(And Pres.Truman reneged on Roosevelt, F.(ex pres) promise to Vietnam(WW2 allies against Japanese puppet regime) that created that situation/war(to 'help French post WW2 recovery)).

US must accept responsibility as it was Roosevelt(Teddy- ex pres) relative in the employ of CIA who allowed the return of Shah and his horrid abuses(by removing a Democratically elected- British parliament model-leader). Which lead to the hostage taking, Beirut marines 241 dead, etc.

Short term political gain has created many of today's horrors.

So you reap the benefits of short sightedness. Or of acting UNLIKE how we preach.

Thinking of torture, being held beyond American ideals(it's legal- ask those held for years in US prisons-immigration- b4 latest horror.), US violating Geneva convention! too scares the bejesus out of me as for the reaping we shall receive. In order to 'save' the village we had to destroy it?
