I think it should start in August..Or even earlier. If you don't have kids now you will change your mind once you do. I like breaks but it needs to be a shorter one!

As a former teacher I can tell you that September is a better start.
Students just aren't psychologically ready to return in August.
The September date on the chalkboard says "its back to school time" for most kids.

Here it starts in September, kids have 3 months off because its so hot, but apart from swimming there's not much else to do, kids get bored with all those holidays.

As soon as possible. There shouldnt' even be a summer anymore. I'm so sick of hearing kids screaming and hollering outside my house until 11 o'clock at night I could just choke one of them. For the safety of the kids that live around me I would suggest August.
