It is my understanding that grocery stores set themselves up, from branch to branch, similarly.

In other words, A&P's everywhere have:
Aisle 1: xxx products
Aisle 2: yyy products
Aisle 3: zzz products

And so on and so forth....

yes that way if you go into another town and into the same grocery store chain you know where to find things...
It's just easier for customers to put all like products together. You wouldn't want to look for milk products in the produce department

I my experience grocery shopping. Every store is set up differently. It's really annoying when you are looking for an item and you can't find it because the store is set up so differently from the one I am used to shopping at. They even like to change the aisles around at the store I am a regular shopper at. They do that so you'll get lost and have to start looking for the products you want instead of being so streemlined about it. Then you'll spend more money. That really ticks me off too.

They are all set up in very similar fashion. There has ben a LOT of market research that has gone into how they are set up. They arrange the store based on what will bring the most sales.

I dont' think they all follow that flow because I've been in various Food Lions (our local chain) and some stores are arranged differently than others. I think it depends on the various departments that htye have.
