We seem to have many, many kids [usually about 7-10 years old] who lurk around in the pool and splash others, like the little kids, repetitively and meanly. Some pretend to be splashing while swimming, but as soon as they are away from the toddlers, they can swim just fine without splashing. They do it mostly to Moms helping little kids who can't swim. Any ideas to control the behavior happily, without offending these children or their parents?

I think people are too worried about offending people. It is not offensive to politely ask the parents to control the splashing or tell the lifeguard if you are not a direct person.
It is offensive to splash little children trying to learn to swim. Quit worrying about what others think of you and stand up for yourself and your child. By letting it happen you are teaching them to be bullied.

Talk to their parents, and if that doesn't work turn them into the lifeguard. Who cares if you offend these kids or their parents. To many kids nowadays think they can do whatever they want to, most of the time the parents are even watching what they are doing and do absolutely nothing.

WHo cares? You are in a pool. When in the pool area you expect to get wet. So what is the real problem?
Parents that won't control their kids?

2. Go to private pool
3. Get over it, splashing happens in pools
btw. I think its funny you don't want to offend kids who are splashing your kids.

try beating the hell out of them. i hate to say it, but most of this generations problems could be solved by a brave person simply beating their children.
when i have kids, i'll beat them when they screw up. when they're that old, they only understand "don't or i'll punish you." they're not mature enough to understand WHY yet. reasoning with a child is...well, like reasoning with a child. it's pointless.

splash them back that's what i do... or go report them to the life guard or who ever is in charge.... dont let some unsupervised brat ruin your day for which I'm sure you paid to get in..
