i agree not enough love... but there is way too much "tolerence" going on in the world...
it all starts at home....
seems like so many have stopped teaching the "golden rule" do unto others as you would have them to do unto you....

Go back a cupple of millennia ago and you will see a world where if it had stayed on its current path there would be no advancement in human tolerance and love. Nor much else either. Up to that point from the time of creation on the world had stayed pretty much the same..being ruled by whoever had the most of whatever...most of the population in slavery to build empires for the elite. There was no benevolence, not much by way of social infrastructure and oppression and suppression were the norm. Just as it is today in the areas of the world where Christianity has not had an influence then you will see the same scenario. Where ever Jesus is..there is healing, hope and some semblance of happiness. Where ever God's moral law is valued and we are commanded to love each other there is tolorance and love...though there is advancement in technology, science, medicine, industry and all of that...its economic and while some are benifitted by it..most are the working class infrastructure that the whole precarious balance rests upon and yet they...the "lower" class citizens of the global economic "community" see the least pay, the least care and the least bennifit and cannot even afford the item they spend 13 to 18 hours a day manufacturing...so..what else is there? Hope in each other? Hope in the world? No..hope in Christ Jesus. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

It is "the machine" stargazer. The non-tolerance and non-love are encrypted in our genes, most in the region called "selfish genes". They came from the "last common ancestor-LCC", which is/was a closed system, the supreme individual selfishness and behind our instincts he is trying to drive us to be individuals closed systems.
. The LCC works as a perfect machine, almost the "perpetum motor" and he is not eternal only because it is attacked by entropy. His goal is to turn on the human society and its biosphere in a closed system, not only the individuals. It is the responsible for we going towards the "The Brave New World" from Aldous Huxley, under the government of "The Big Brother", from George Orwell.
The LCC, or “the machine" was the universal matrix in its astronomic shape, and supporter of the fossil of a natural system that human beings and biosphere are embebed into: the Milk Way.
This matrix was fragmented by entropy and its bits-information falls to Earth and lift up again in the shape of DNA. So, the machine is here at every place and object, it is a force inside us and the force outside us. It is a force trying to reproduce the system it was at the sky.
We are wondering why the History and the models that we got by the method of comparative anatomy between living and non-living systems is very similar to the history written in Genesis, in the Bible. The matrix while a kind of DNA of astronomy systems has the shape of a hermaphrodite serpent, swelling its own tail. The energetic circuitry or “flow of information” connecting the parts of that system is shared in two circuits, which becomes later, the “X” and “Y” chromosome. So we have at the sky the ancestors of male and female and if you want you can call them “Adam and Eve”. That closed system is/was a perfect paradise for all matter and energy. And had the “fall”, which created the terrestrial biological systems, whose we call “living systems”. How people from that time have the inspiration for writing this history I have no idea!
But, we have an opportunity for to change this natural destiny. If our LCC is a closed system, it is descendant and is embebed in an opened system, besides Milk Way. This opened system is our ancestor also, he is encrypted at our genetics also, only is not being full expressed. So, we have a chance if we fight replace the actually expression of the selfish genes for those altruistic genes.
. I don't know a method for doing that, it is a big sacrifice because we need to change our behavior and our closest nature. I think that the merely fact of knowing the LCC and its intention about us will be a force enough for changing ourselves. And the problem is that we need to build the technologic world of Huxley here at Earth, for the best of our bodies, for to reach the optimum thermodynamic equilibrium of our bodies in connection with our biosphere. But we can not permit that our mind becomes full connected in this system also, we need our mind free from the machine, for to lift up from Earth to a better destiny in the Universe. We need doing a big effort, we need talking more about this issue, it is very, very serious: if we permit that each one of us becomes an individual Big Brother, we will install the collective Big Brother government and, we will be condemned to live the hell for our mind in the paradise for our body. We will repeat the same horrible mistake did by Adam and Eve. Thanks by the question, people really need to wake for this issue.

Because of GREED. Greed is what drives all the advancements. Everybody wants more of everything. The focus is on self.
Tolerance, Love, Acceptance - These are all action verbs and require an outgoing concern for other people. Very few people can be content with what they have and when your goal is to "get" there is no concept of "give".
It's a lack of enlightenment. The focus should be on building ones character instead of on amassing great piles of things. Good character goes with you to the "other side of death" all those things stay here!

People who opine "not enough love" are part of the problem. There's enough love and enough of all of the other emotions. The reason that tolerance is not more prevalent is because of religion and politics.
Religion teaches that tolerance is bad. They pretend to teach tolerance, but what they really teach is that all other belief but their own is evil and they should try to beat the evil out of other people. Their "love the sinner, hate the sin" is another way of saying "be intolerant of other people's ideas and try to force them into your religion".
Politicians keep fueling the fire to promote their own short term goals. The more they can make someone intolerant of "the opposition", the tighter they hold their vote. That's why before an election, you'll see them push stupid bills through the Congress knowing they will be shot down. It's a method of raising the heat level.

I have seen that for myself I have been unwilling in the past to do the research necessary to understand others. Tolerance grows as I understand the issues and then make a stand rather than the other way around. At that point I may still respectfully disagree but I have grown in understanding of others and why they speak and act as they do.

Actually, I'm not sure if that's true. Intolerance is a great stream running throughout history. Man's intolerance to man has caused uncountably large amounts of suffering over the years.
If it appears that people are more intolerant at the moment, then accept it merely as a temporary by-product of how much more access we have to the world as a whole and other people's ways of living. Look at it as a process of 'ignorance' - 'learning' - 'initial shock' - 'digestion' - 'acceptance'.
At the moment, we're overcoming our ignorance of the world. We're in a kind of initial shock period of learning that a lot of people have lifestyles different to us. Slowly we will digest this information and then come to accept it for what it is.
Our whole world has become cosmopolitan. It takes time for people to adjust to that. But adjust they will. Then you'll see just how much potential for tolerance and love there really is in the world.

Thats the problem...you only see the worse part of it (the whole intolerance and misunderstanding thing). In reality many people are now being more tolerant of other beliefs and being more respectful (at least there's still a lot of them)...its just that it makes for boring CNN news...

Perhaps tolerance and love are inefficient. Maybe they are what is holding us all back. Maybe their negation IS an advancement in and of itself. Never forget the last time scientists tried to create love chemically, they came up with flunitrazepam.

It's selfishness, in my opinion. I've noticed in the last few years that people seem to be so self-absorbed that it is almost scary sometimes.
And tolerance? oh my, it seems to me that we are expected to tolerate so many affronts to our senses and morals, we are to tolerate killers, tolerate kids who do bad things, tolerate parents who abuse or abandon their children, all because they had a really bad growing up experience.
Yet they can't tolerate someone in their lane going slower than they. They can't tolerate being held up in a slow-moving line. They can't tolerate anything or anyone who actually gets in their way.
I know, odd.
