I still haven't gotten a proper answer to my question, just a load of paranoid freaks saying "LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU!"

I really don't think we have enough trained for every type of chemical or explosive that can be taken past their noses, we need lots more sniffer dogs for all the work that needs doing in airports round the country.

What does a terrorist look like? Everyone has to be regarded as a potential threat, they don't go around with a hat with a neon sign telling the world they are terrorists now do they?

Dogs take time, just as searching someone by hand does, the dogs should be used AS WELL as the standard hand search. People who just see this situation as an inconvenience really do need to wake up and smell the coffee, have they not realised the bombs would have been very small, very hard to detect, and there are many such bombs that can be made from recipes on the net from household products, everyone is equally treated here, the security in the airports is not segregating the people by religion is it?

Sniffer dogs are not able to detect liquid explosives which are
concealed in all kinds of packaging, especially in sealed plastic.
They are harmless on their own and become explosive only when
mixed in the correct proportions. Furthermore, sniffer dogs have
not been trained to detect these chemicals and it takes a long time
to train a dog to detect any new substance.

So who's innocent round here? The point about fluids is that they're not explosive until they^re mixed together. You want dogs to be trained to sniff out every peroxide blonde who has a top up in her hand luggage?

It's not always as easy as that, the chemical scent can be covered to confuse the sniffer dogs!

Don't forget that some of those innocents are actually terrorists - could YOU tell the difference? Look what happened a couple of days ago - even their parents didn't suspect a couple of them!

I suppose they could train a dog to sniff out chemicals and detect them, but what do terrorists "smell" like? You know what I mean?

Dogs are trained to detect certain CONSISTENT scents...not random ones,

Hope this helps !

who's INNOCENT???
I travel A LOT and I NEVER EVER against their rules.. I still wanna LIVE and enjoy my life... it's better to be SAFE than SORRY...
Dogs can sniff explosive chem, drugs and other stuff.. but THEY COULD NEVER SNIFF OUT A TERRORIST...

Instead of moaning about being hassled you should be happy about the security. I'd rather be safe.
