Should we not start by spreading peace in our own homes and families? If we cannot learn to live with each other in our homes peacefully then I do not feel there is a hope of peace. We cannot do much to teach this generation but we can change the outlook of the next! We are the teachers of our children. Let's teach them peace, love, tolerance and yes Faith!
Peace Be With You,
Debra

I don't hold out much hope for peace, but I agree with your assessment of where to start. The only way to go about it, is to start small. Like Jesus said, "Before you attempt to remove the mote from someone else's eye, remove the plank from your own". Move up from there and hope it has a ripple effect.

As Lao-Tzu said in the Tao (ch.54):
"Cultivate Virtue in yourself,
And Virtue will be real.
Cultivate it in the family,
And Virtue will abound.
Cultivate it in the village,
And Virtue will grow.
Cultivate it in the nation,
And Virtue will be abundant."
Cultivate it in the universe,
And Virtue will be everywhere.

I completely disagree with you ---

What I mean is that it's never too late for this generation. A person is never too old to learn, and most of the time the process is quite simple. If you accept hatred and fear as connected emotions, then all you need to do is what psychologists call 'exposure'. For example:

Take a homophobe. Introduce a gay person (under controlled circumstances). Let the homophobe interact with the gay person and slowly start to see that the gay person is not about to magically 'spread' his homosexuality. Slowly the homophobe will relax and, hopefully, start to think differently about gay people.

That's just one example. But it seems to me that peace, love, tolerance and (okay) faith are usually accomplished when you open minds. And you can open anyone's mind - no matter how long it takes, it's always worth the effort. And no matter how old that person is.

I have faith (there's that word again) that the next generation will shock us - that when it's time for them to take the reigns of power, they will do so with much more information about the variety of the world, and with much more open minds. The best thing about the 'global village' we now live in is that you can meet all kinds of people and - in so doing - learn that, at heart, people are people.

This is a skill that us old folks are just learning to harness. The younger generation has never known it any other way. Will they make mistakes? Of course they will. But will they do a better job of it than we've been able to do? If there's one thing in the world that I believe on faith, it's that, yes, absolutely they will.

Well, sorry to say Debra people seem to be in a bad mood today. I think your question is very inteligent and reverent. Being good to ones own family is sometimes the hardest thing to do. But don't they deserve it the most? I agree about the generation. We are the examples. Peace, Love, Tolerance, Faith- gifts of the Holy Spirit. Have a great day- peace.

Here's how we get world peace: Kill off every last person.
People will always have different opinions. When differences are great, and one of a million things happens conflict, from a heated argument up to all-out war, will happen.
All we can do is try to spread tolerance of others and hope for the best.

That's an awesome thought and so true. However, not trying to burst your bubble of enthusiasm the truth is that what you say can be true and is true and will remain true..yet until people embrace its truth and act on it..nothing can come of it. Further..I believe that as the Bible says..it will only get worse as the world grows further and further away from God. Family will turn against family and its already started. I love your positive outlook and hate to be so cynical myself..I know what I can do in my life with the love of Christ Jesus and sharing that faith with others to bring them Hope as well..but the world as a whole? I just trust the Word of God..Jesus says alot about it in Matthew 24. God bless you though..you are right. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

We are living in the end of times and Jesus is returning in our life time. Get your self ready for HIs return. The bible has prepared us for what we are going through right now. It is up to everyone individually to prepare themsleves for where their soul will go when Jesus returns for His church. He is returning for His bride which is the chrisitian church when He raptures us. Peace will come then to all of those who accepted Jesus as their savior.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

Too many people have studied the word of God over the years, and have never understood the true meaning and purpose of life. It is to become the bride of Jesus. There will be great peace and happiness on that glorious day for all who have accepted Jesus as their savior. Prasie the Lord.

You are right
We need to have a break out of all that hatred
I think the first step is : Respect each other's points of views , if we don't agree together this doesn't mean that we have to hate each other .
Second step : If you already hate sb because they disagree with you , at least don't try to make others hate them just to prove to yourself that you were right

Pray without ceasing; never cease to pray. Pray to our Heavenly Father, the Living God Jehovah, Moses' Great I AM, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in Jesus' name. Pray for peace in Israel, also pray that the United States of America supports Israel.

Also pray that Queen Elizabeth of England stands up for Jesus and supports Israel.
